My mom has open enrollment in July. She did all her work then found out state Merit dosen't pay. I called BCBS to see which insurance covers and I was told they couldn't tell me until after she purchase her insurance (a load of crap). Dose any state employee know which insurance is good? She has BCBS PPO and they didn't cover it. I know it depends on the employee she is with the school system.

The only Insurance company that I can speak for is Aetna because that's who I have. They offer coverage if (1) your company buys the add on to cover it & (2) if you follow their requirements to a tee which is pretty much 6 months supervised diet & exercise. I wish you the best of luck. ~Bonnie

I just posted a similar question! As far as I know, BCBS HMO will be paying until July 1 - or whenever the plan renews. They have a lot of hoops to jump through and require a physician supervised diet program over 5-6 non-consecutive months. I am wondering if the other HMOs will pay. Susan
