doing ok......
Had surgery last Fri 8th and came home yesterday. Had open instead of lap due to previous c-section scar tissue. Really miss my pain pump. Did well in the hospital but having a more difficult time at home. No fever/ no infection so doing well so far. Want to thank my great angel, Christen B for her support. I learned a lot about family and friends recently and learned which ones care and which ones just pretend care. Have to go to the doctor Monday and have the staples and last tube remeoved. Not at all looking forward to that but will feel better when it is done.

Hi, Tami...welcome home! It sounds like you are doing great. Can I ask, is that a common thing...open instead of lap because of a previous c-section? I had a c-section 3 years ago. I have to be honest, that is one of my greatest fears...open surgery. I know I will be fine...as you do...we made it through the c-section.
Keep us posted. I have been really busy this week, and I'm trying to catch up on posts.
Take care of yourself!

From what I experienced myself and have heard from others, previous abdominal surgery (open) can leave lots of scar tissue (called adhesions) inside and make lap surgery very difficult for doctors. I had a prior surgery 10 years ago and when I went in for my lap RNY the doctors ended up taking over 5 hours to complete what would normally have taken only 1.5 hrs or so - due to all the scar tissue inside. They almost gave up and switched to open on me because of it. Remember, the doctors will always choose what is best for YOU when they operate.
Congratulations, Tami! I'm so glad you're home. You'll really be feeling better in no time. It's sort of like driving through a thick fog bank; you feel like it's never going to end and there's no blue sky out there, until all at once you drive through the 'curtain' and there it is... only in this case, you'll feel like the discomfort will never end, but then all of a sudden, life is good again! Hang in there. You'll be lovin' your new thin and healthy bod soon,
Cheryl
Hey Tami,
I'm glad to hear you are home. I had been wondering why they had to switch to open on you, now I know! Wow, they kept you 6 days?!?!
Try and get plenty of rest. Surgery is a very emotional time. In the long run its good to know who sincerely cares. Thank God for those you love.
I pray for a quick recovery time for you. Heres to seeing you up and around soon!
