Can my OB/Gyn be my PCP???? I am having to change insurance to have the surgery. My current family physician is not in-network with the new insurance but my current Ob/Gyn is. My OB/Gyn has been the one working with me on my weight for years. Thanks for any help! Mandy

Mandy, My OB/GYN is my PCP and they had no problem with that. It does not have to be an internist or specialist. My OB/GYN has always treated me, because I dont like using many different doctors for something like a cold or something like that. If she thinks I need something special, she refers me to the right person. Hope this helps. D'Lynn 232/229/213

Thanks so much, D'Lynn. I am new to all this stuff. I've never had to worry about pcp and all those other terms with my PPO but now that I am switching to an HMO I am learning that I do not know nearly enough about how insurance companies work. Thanks so much for your help. I was really hoping that would be the case because my OB/Gyn has been with me with this struggle of obesity. Good luck on your journey can't wait to join you on the losing side. Mandy
