D'Lynn or other Hart patients
Michelle,
I second what Carol said. As long as you arent on the pain medications, you can drive, but only what you feel is safe for you. I drove the first time on Saturday after my surgery, but again my longest distance driving was for my 10 day follow up, which wasnt bad except for I have no freon in my van right now, and it was raining so it was hard to keep the windows clear. A little side note on the pain meds, if you are weak with pain, when you go for your pre-op, Dr Hart is going to go ahead and give a prescription for the pain medication. All the drug stores here could not get it for a week, so I was out the pain meds after surgery because I didnt get it filled before surgery. Of course, I just chose the extra strength tylenol liquid for adults, cherry flavor, not bad. But if you dont do pain too well, go the same day you get your prescription so they can order the meds for you. By the way, I didnt really hurt much, only took half the bottle since surgery, and it has been for other things besides pain from surgery. How is everything going? Are you excited? How is DH doing? I have lost to 213 from 232...I am so proud 19 lbs in 3 weeks tomorrow. I did get weak and bought a scale, but I weigh in the mornings after going to the bathroom in my birthday suit, that way it is a true weight...lol. Anyway, dont stress, and you dont really have to take alot to the hospital, I didnt wear any of my pjs, just the hospital stuff, and the robe. I wore home the same clothes I wore to the hospital. And I would take toiletries...but they give you lots of that too. Send me a message and let me know if there is anything else I need to tell you about. Your pre-op visit is nothing, just registering, seeing anesthesia, and getting assessed by the nurse at the hospital, going over history and any problems with anesthesia. I did have to have one poke to get some blood, but nothing like the pre testing. Let me know if you need anything...that is what angels and friends are for.
