Hello everyone: Was wondering if anyone is having problems swallowing their pills. I mean after swallowing and taking a drink it feels like it wants to come up. I have been having this problem in the past week. I would like to try to swallow since chewing my pills has never been a favorit of mine. Thanks Mary

Hi! I take about 20 different type of pills a day; some really big; some small. For those pills that are hard to swallow & keep down try putting the pill on spoon with a small bite of apple sauce, yogurt or something soft you like instead of taking the pill with water. This may help keep it down and not make you feel sick. If the pills are really big, buy a pill cuter from your pharmacy about $3.00 & cut them in half and take one-half then wait a few minutes to take the other half with apple sauce, etc, no****er. This sometimes helps me keep mine down. I am now 6 months out and it gets a little better with the pills. I still sometimes feel full after just taking my meds; but thats ok. It is worth it. I can't swallow pills so I have to get either chewable or liquid form. If I can't find them, I crush them up and add them to a little juice. Diet V-8 Splash or Crystal Light Sunrise work great. I swish them around in a little 3 ounce cup, then have a small juice glass full ready as a chaser. I've been doing this for over 8 months and have had no problem. Sometimes the taste is bad (depending on the med), so I count the little dance around the kitchen toward my daily exercise!!! Good luck, Patti

Hi Mary! My Doc advises us to drink hot liquid (hot decaf tea, chicken broth) prior to eating or taking pills. It helps open and relax the opening to the pouch. Maybe this would work for you. Good luck!

I bought a pill crusher at Walmart for under four bucks (if I remember correctly...wasn't much). My surgeon had told me not to swallow pills for at least six months post op, but there are meds I still have to take daily. Both he and my PCP advised me to get a pill crusher. There is one med that I learned comes in powder form, so that's how I get that one, now. I go through the ritual of pill crushing every morning, mixed in a little bit of bottled water, and sweet 'n low. It's a bit yukky, and I hurry and drnik more water afterward...but something I have to do until I am able to take whole pills, again. God bless you! Pat
