Surgery Date with Dr. Duncan
I had the surgery with them on March 23, 2005.
I was very VERY happy with the surgery and process.
I only had one gripe and that was due to the office staff being so difficult to get responses from. They are always friendly, just not always efficient while they are being friendly...
Have fun at the Complications meeting... they will scare the s***t out of you.... but it's stuff you need to hear.
Oh, by the way... when you take the Fleet Phosphosoda (and you will), don't bother trying to mix it with anything. Get a tin of Altoids Sours, a bottle of ice cold water and a shot glass of the phosphosoda. Tell yourself you are doing a fun shooter and slam ALL of the Fleet, then start sucking tha****er down your throat. I mean chug it until you stop tasting the Fleet and then pop 2 or 3 of the Altoids Sours in your mouth and just let them coat every inch of your mouth and tongue.
I had to take Fleet 2 days. Day 1, I mixed it with Ginger Ale and suffered through a whole glass of nasty Fleet flavored ginger ale.
Day 2, I did the Altoid Sour Method and it was MUCH easier to deal with.
Oh yeah, after the surgery: get up off yo' hiney and WALK as much as you can. When you are whipped, give yourself a treat of Morphine (I had Apnea, so I got Demerol). Then, when you wake up enough to stand, get up again and do it all over.
I in no way wanted to move after surgery, but I knew that your success increases EXPONENTIALLY just by getting up and moving.
Last tip: For the leak test (usually the next day), insist on a moist towel or rag to have before you drink the nasty wasty gunky bunky stuff. You will want send me money when you taste that stuff. I almost compare the taste of it as equal to the discomfort of the surgery itself.
Good luck on your surgery! I just had my 2 week post op and have lost 30 lbs!!!! (42 lbs total since my first weigh in with Duncan).
Oh one other P.S... The last time they weigh is at your post op... after that, you should watch what you eat, but if you should happen to have some farewell nastiness, it won't show up on your chart! Of course I don't condone any weight gain cuz they say it puts fat on your liver and makes the surgery harder for the Docs to see.
God, I just ramble on and one.
