Completely discouraged
I just received my denial letter from SSI. So therefore I dont qualify for medicaid. I dont know what to try next. They said I make too much money - puleaseeeeeeeeeee. I barely bring in enough from workers comp to pay the normal bills. But they said that someone working has a better chance at getting the benefits than someone injured - now how does that make sense???????????????????? They dont determine your diability based on your disability, but based on your income - HUH??????? They said for someone that is working, they take their earned income per month subtract $60 then cut the rest in half and they base their decision on the remainder. For someone injured and not working (Like me) they take my workers comp check and subtract $20 then take the rest. Why not cut that in half - I dont get it. My blood pressure has gone from 120/80 last year to 175/120 this year and i have gained over 70 lbs since i cant walk from the injury. IM soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo frustrated right now and dont know what to do. Social security told me that i could still qualify for the social security disablily - no benefits, just the label - and then wait 2 YEARS for any medical help. I could be dead by then the way im going. Anyone have any suggestions. Ill listen to ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sheri,
Try finding a lawyer that specializes in Social Securty claims. Thats what I did. I'm not sure how the workers comp will fit in and there may be nothing you can do but its free to consult the lawyer.
I know you must be really frustrated and you must get that BP under control. Are you being treated by a doctor for it? That is so important.
I'm wishing you the best and will remember you in my prayers.

Im suppose to take meds for the BP, but they make me sick. I've tried a few things and nothing works. Im sure its the stress of the injury and now the denial isnt helping. Im just so frustrated and discouraged, i just wish i had a light at the end of this black hole. I appreciate your prayers, im going to need alot of them to get thru all this.

Sheri,
I do know that disability will turn you down the first time no matter what because they want to see how badly you want it. Take the advice offered earlier and get a lawyer. Both my parents were on SSI and have other income from retirement or something, and they qualified, but they had to reapply more than once. Good luck.

Oh Sheri,

I am so sorry things seem not to be working out for you right now. Not much stronger than the human will. Don't give up, try everything. I don't have any solid answers but I truly believe, where there is a will there is a way. Don't get discouraged, that's what they want you to do. There are a lot of support and prayers here, they both are powerful.
