Any self-pay folks out there?

I have a friend who desperately needs to have WLS, but it looks like her insurance will NOT cover it. I'd love to hear from any self-pay folks out there if you could give me a ballpark figure on the cost, so she can prepare for it. Thanks! Cheryl

I think each surgery center is a bit different but I was almost a self pay and looked into it. The center in Savannah Ga requires $11,000 down and $250 a month. Hope this helps your friend. Tami

Hi Cheryl I was self-pay and my total overall cost was around $23,000 (that was for my pre-op, surgeon, anesthesiologist & hospital stay). I took out a home equity line of credit, which for me at the time was the best option. I know there are some companies out there that will do medical financing as well (Care Credit & Capital One are 2 I have heard about). It will depend greatly on who your friend uses. When I was doing my research I had quotes from $20k all the way up to $50k. I hope that helps some. God bless Angel
