Hi I am new tot he area and I work for the State of Ga. looking for a doc who takes Blue Choice Hmo. Any one have any experience with this insurance and docs? I saw the Peachtree Bariatric Group? Any negatives or posiitves? I have some fears about the surgery. i worry about the breathing tube being in when I wake up and being irritated and may pull it out or something. Also being completely vunerable tot he nurses becaus eof being immobile. Any single women living alone who have had the procedure? How did u manage. I am asking lots of questiosn! Sorry.

PEACHTREE SURGICAL IS THE BOMB. DR TITUS DUNCAN AND HIS GROUP OF SURGEONS ARE THE BEST. I MEAN THINK ABOUT IF YOU COULD GO THE THE PERSON THAT DEVELOPED THIS LAP PROCEDURE YOU WOULD GO RIGHT WELL I DID THAT WAS DR DUNCAN STAR****CHING HIM ON FOX 5 ON THIURSDAY MORNINGS AT 8-8:30 THE MAN IS BRILLANT. HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING AND HE CARES. I HAD SOME COMPLICATIONS I WONT LIE AND HIS TEAM OF SURGEONS SAVED ME NOT ONCE BUT TWICE. AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF THE NURSES AT ATLANTA MEDICAL CENTER ARE ALSO THE BOMB. THEY ARE CARING AND GO THE EXTRA MILE. WELL READ MY PROFILE BUT DONE GET SCARED BECAUSE I HEAR TO TELL YOU IF YOU THINK YOU ARE SCARED WELL READ WHAT I WENT THROUGHT. AND I WILL TELL YOU I WOULD DO IT AL OVER AGAIN.

Hello. My surgeon is Dr. Macik of Northside Bariatrics. He is wonderful! He goes above and beyond the call of duty. He did my Gallbladder surgery about 4 years ago and my gastric bypass this past January. His nurse is amazing and patient and Karen who does the insurance will fight for you. He does his surgeries out of Northside, North Fulton and Emory Dunwoody which he is chief of Surgery. As you will find most of the surgeons have a surgery fee and his includes the Psyc eval, lifetime nutritionist, all visits to him before and after your surgery & support group meetings once a month. You usually do not have the breathing tube in when you wake up. They normally remove it before hand. I am single and living alone and I did not have any problems. My mom did come by for the first few days which was nice. I wish you the best of luck on your journey! ~Bonnie

Okemi, may I suggest that you contact Dr. John Daly OR Dr. Christopher Hart. I think that you would be happy with either of them. I used Duncan's practice and did not have a good experience. If I had a child or family member who needed wls.........my first choice would be Dr. John Daly. Your choice of a doctor is probably the most important step in this journey. Do your research, listen to the good and the bad and make your own choice. Just because a doctor has a pretty/fancy web site says nothing of his/her skills. Interview the doctor's!! If you cannot get in to see the doctor, perhaps he/she is not the one you want in your corner should a problem arise, how available will he/she be to you should you have a problem? Trust me on this one.................it is VERY important!!! Good Luck to you Debbie J Duncan patient 01-14-02 lap-rny 01-15-02 leak repair surgery (non smoker, non steroid taker) 01-29-02 surgery to see if I had another leak, NO thank goodness SEVERE COMPLICATIONS!! 45 days in ICU, 33 days kept alive via ventilator 30 days in a rehab hospital, had to learn to walk again Now, one happy girl.............LUCKY to be alive
