RE: FLAX SEED OIL
HELLO EVERYONE:
IN ABOUT A FEW DAYS I WILL BE 1 MONTH POST-OP AND I FEEL GREAT. I KNOW THAT TONYA FROM WARNER ROBINS POSTED SOMETHING LAST YEAR ABOUT FLAX SEED WHICH I PRINTED OUT. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE WAS USING THIS PRODUCT EITHER IN PILL FORM OR AS AN OIL. I KNOW SHE SAID SHE WAS USING THE SEEDS AFTER SHE GRINDED THEM. I WOULD LIKE TO USE THE PILL FORM BUT I WAS TOLD BY SOMEONE THAT YOU WILL GET THE BENEFIT MORE IF YOU USED THE OIL. I DON'T WANT TO USE THE OIL IF I CAN HELP IT. ANY SUGGESTION WILL BE GREATLY APPREICATED. HOPE YOU ALL ARE DOING WELL ON YOUR WLS JOURNEY AND HOPEFULLY WE WILL MEET SOME NEW POST-OP ON APRIL 30TH.
TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES

Hey Mary!
Glad to hear you are doing well!
It is said that the fresh refridgerated whole flax seed is the best. Look for a health food store that carries vac****ealed bags with expiration dates. The idea is that the when you grind the whole seed fre**** releases the oils that are beneficial (Omega-3s) and the seed is a good source of fiber. Very helpful if you have "regularity" issues. (like me;) )
The oil is ok but you don't get the benefit of the fiber. Also you must be sure that it is fresh and is kept refridgerated also. Good health food stores will store the oil in the fridge along with the whole seed. Also, the oil tastes nasty!
The flax oil that is found in gel cap pill form is not good. It is said that the oil is old and rancid from sitting on store shelves for who knows how long.
Hopes this helps!
Tonya
You won't get much benefit from using the whole seed. (Whole seed in equals whole seed out).
I get the fresh golden flax seeds from Harry's Market and keep them in the fridge. I bought an inexpensive coffee grinder from WalMart for about $12. I grind about a Tablespoon in the morning and add it to my morning oatmeal. Has a great nutty taste. Remember not to use the grinder for anything other than your flax seed. You can toss a couple of soda crackers in and whir them up to clean the machine.
It really helps with your hair, skin, nails and (a-hem), regularity!
