IN PAIN
Hi. I am 10 weeks post op and I woke up to pain in my abdomen several times thru the night last night and it has been coming and going all day today. I know it isn't gas as I have had plenty of that since surgery and I know what it feels like. The pain is strange. I will be fine and then all of a sudden I will double over in pain and then it goes away for a bit. Just courius if anyone knows what this may be from. Any thoughts would be appreciated as I am going to San Juan tomorrow and want to make sure it isn't anything serious. Thanks! ~Bonnie
Hey, Bonnie, I would call the doctor. The only thing that I experienced that sounds similar was when my gall bladder started acting up. When folks lose weight quickly, sometimes the gall bladder goes bad...sounds like a bad movie. Where's your pain? I would feel better if someone walked on my back...don't do it. The pain was back right and radiated around the abdomen. I don't know what a stricture feels like. Please call to be safe!
Hugs,
Becky
Hi. Thanks for responding. I have already had my gallbladder removed and this feels different than that. It starts in lower front abdomen and radiates up and it comes and goes. It seems to be affecting my appetite as yesterday I only ate lunch and today I have only had 1 peanut butter cracker which isn't good. My doctor is already gone for the day and I leave at 6 am tomorrow for San Juan so hopefully this will just go away.
Oh Bonnie,
I am sorry you are going through this. You have my prayers.
I am late posting this, I'm just coming online. You have hopefully already resolved this issue. But it scared me when you said you are set to leave town tomorrow at 6.00am. So I just had to chime in anyway............ DON'T DO IT UNTIL YOU FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even if you have to go to the emer rm. tonight. It may be no big deal but do find out.
This strikes a cord with me because a few years back I left Atlanta headed for Canada, sick, but I thought I would get ok, and because this was a well and long time planned 3 week family vacation. Without going into all the calamity, let me just say, I didn't get better, I spent a lot of time in a lovely Canadian Emer Rm. the rest of the time was spent in a lovely hotel suite trying to get well enough to get back here to have surgery. My family was held hostage to all this drama. When we finally got home we had spent tons of money (what we had put aside for the big fun trip) and nobody had fun. It was a nightmare.
Please don't go without having your self checked out. Maybe I'm partial but I like my medical care in the good ole US of A, preferrably here in my home town.
(P.S. No bad reflection on Canada's health care of course. In fact they couldn't take our insurance, and my husband and I freaked (saying nothing verbally) wondering what this was going to cost us out of pocket. At the end they presented us a bill, apoligized for the cost, and seemed so sorry that we had to pay this out of pocket. Hands over face, peeking through our fingers, we took a deep breath and braced our selves for the numbers............................I'm not sure of the exact amount now but it was less than $100.00, can't remember exactly but I think quite a bit less. That was the only bright spot of the trip. Wish we had those prices here. They were wonderful people)
OK, I came, I rambled, I'm off but ..................GET THAT TAKEN CARE OF.
Joyce
