Kenneth's Home!
We came home last night. Every since it's been running all over the place. I went to Walgreens to pick up some vancomycin, we they didn't have it. They ordered it in liquid form. This is for his c difficile. So they called around and couldn't find anyone who had it. They finally said that we could go to this place that compounds the med. Of course they were closed, so I called them first thing this morning. They said that they couldn't do it...ugh So I called this other place and they had it. Once I got there they didn't have the amount we needed for them to make it liquid form. So I ended up having to get it in capsule form. 2 pills every 6 hours! He's having to take it out of the capsule to take them. He's only taken 1 dose so far and is frustrated about having to take these things. As most of you know by the time you get 2 pills down with something to drink some of us were full pretty fast in the beginning. Now I wish we could have got the liquid form. Then the pharmisist tells me, that the 66 capules totaled $1200!! Holy Cow! Thanks goodness for a $25 co-pay! Anyone have to take some capsules after surgery and have to mix them in something? I got some applesauce unsweetened and pudding to try and mix it in. The ones he opened earlier were not grainy so it was able to cut them in half and take them. Kenneth seems to tolerate what he's tried so far. Thankfully the meds are helping because he's not running to the bathroom like we was. I've been exhausted since getting home. The nurses were not the best on the weekend and I ended up having to do things they seemed not able to do. A lot of the time I was not able to get my legs up and now my legs are feeling swollen. I've been trying to keep them up today as much as possible. I didn't expect to get so stressed about all of this, I seem to worry more about Kenneth than I did for myself. I keep reminding him about his water, eating etc.... I just worry about him....sigh I guess it's one of those things he will have to learn. I'm just glad he's home now!

WooHoo!!!!!
Kenneth (and Amy) are home. I know you will be glad to be back in your own bed. That makes come home worth it all. Glad to hear Kenneth is doing better, and not up running to the bathroom all the time. And I know what you mean about running all over trying to find medicine in liquid form. When I left the hospital, my surgeon had ordered Roxicet Elixir for pain. The hospital told me to go to the Eckerds up the road to get it filled, which we did, but I needed more when that ran out. The Eckerds we got it filled at was in Atlanta, and I could only find one drug store here in Macon that had it on hand. I must've called 25-30 before finding that one. All the others could order it, but it would take 2-3 days to get it in, and I was hurting then. And as for the cost, one of my sons daily meds is $689/month. And as you said, thank goodness for a co-pay, or I couldn't afford it.
Now it is time for you both to get some rest and heal... We're all rooting for you both!

Hi, Sweet Lady! Now that you've got your sweetie settled, please get some rest. While Kenneth sleeps, get off your feet. The housework and other STUFF can wait! I am glad that the meds are starting to help! Please tell your dear hubby that we are thinking of you both, and can't wait until he's feeling better!
