Weird Coincidence?
Okay, Ya'll! You know I am a little naive, but here goes. For the first time since my surgery, I have drunk a carbonated soft drink...diet vanilla Coke. I have had what feels like the croup, and it burns ever so nicely going down. Now, here's the weird part. Does drinking a soft drink make others go (#2) to the restroom more frequently? I may have to have one a month just to make myself feel better. Has anyone else been affected this way? I am a little worried about the probable caffeine head ache tomorrow, but for today, all is well.
Thanks,
Becky
Hi Becky, even at over three years out, I can't handle anything carbonated. Sometimes I wish I could, cause a Diet Coke sounds good.
Now, as for the other.............at least you know if you get constipated, you have found a cure
I have a couple of friends, both wls people, who have this happen when they drink a glass of wine.

Hi, Debbie,
it still remains to be seen if I can handle it or not. I just got home from church, and I can tell you that it ws a rather tough four hours. I did not pass gas, but all of the alto section owe me big time because it took great effort on my part! I don't think I looked joyful! It's good to be home! LOL

Becky
Becky,
I drink a Diet Coke pretty much every day. I haven't noticed that it helps me go #2, for the most part, I am pretty regular now. I didn't used to be though, from about 6 months post op until 20 months post op, I had a real problem with constipation. Come to find out, I wasn't having enough grains, fruit and of all things yogurt. Ever since I added more of this, I have been fine. I can't give you much advice for the caffeine headache, I know that I am addicted.....I have 3-4 cups of coffee, a diet coke a day, and green tea at night before bed..I would not know what I would do if I gave up caffeine, and before anyone asks, I drink 40-60oz of water a day as well. The burning you felt will go away, you might have drank it a little to fast, that tends to happen to me if I take too big of a drink or take it to fast...
Take Care,
Cathy
Hi, Cathy, It's good to know that this constipation thiing is normal. I have been thinking about adding yogurt to my daily menu...have been hearing that it makes one healthier. I am really tired of these bugs. What kind of yogurt do you like? Since surgery, I really like blueberries now, so I may give that flavor a try.
Thanks for your input, Sweetie!!
