SUPER WORRIED
HI all. I did my initial consult.... YAY!!!! However, I am a little concerned. While in the doctors office waiting to be weighed and measured I was sat in this little corner behind a half wall. All of a sudden I hear this heated conversation, but I couldn't see who was talking. But the first lady was telling a second lady that a patient had ended up in ICU because when she called the doctor on call (apparently this was the second lady) the call was not returned. She specifically said, :if you had called back when she called she wouldn't be in ICU now." OF course the second lady was very defensive, but my bigger concern is whether or not this is a reflection on the practice as a whole. I know they don't have any female doctors but they do have female fellows. I just know I don't want anything like this to happen to me, but I also know I researched doctors for a LONG time. Do you guys think I'm making a mistake going with this office?
Thanks for listening
Val

well i am not sure what Doc office you are going too ...But i do know that Duncans is a pain in the butt on call backs if you page them and all just from dealing with my mom and her issues ..But then again you just have to be smart and if you thing something is wrong then just go to the hospital ....... but i would not say it is a mistake going there ...Even if it is not Duncans ....mabey this is a one time thing or something

Val, only you can answer the question if this is the right doctor/practice for you.
The choice of surgeon is probably the most important step in this journey. You want one that is with you for the long haul.........not one who will do the surgery and be gone. If, a crisis occurs, you want one who will be with you every step of the way, not one who will abandon you to whatever doctor happens to be in the ER.
A friend used Dr. John Daly back in 2003.........she still has a very good relationship with him. He has taken out her gall bladder since her gastric bypass and anytime she has a question...........she picks up the phone and calls his office, and within a short period of time, she has an answer.
Val, like I said above, the choice of surgeon is VERY important!
Good Luck to you

MY PARENTS CALLE THE PN CALL SERVICE AND GOT A CALL BACK IN FIVE MINUTES AND WAS TOLD TO CALL 911 IMMEDIATLEY. I WAS RUSHED TO ATLANTA MEDICAL 45 MINUTES LATER I WAS THERE SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER I HURT SO BAD THEY HAD TO PERFORM SURGERY 7 HOURS LATER THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM I HAD A HOLE ERUPT IN THE OLD PART OD THE STOMACH AND CAUSED PARATINTIS REALLY REALLY BAD I WAS IN ICU FOR 8 DAYS IN ATLANTA MEDICAL FOR 28 DAYS TOTAL. IM TELLING YOU I WOULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN AND AS FAR AT PEACHTREE SURGICAL I THINK THEY ARE THE BOMB I LOVE THEM IN THAT OFFICE I HAVE HAS 5 SURGERIES SINCE MARCH LAST YEAR AND THEY ALL HAVE STUCK BY ME. I DONT THINK I COULD OF DONE WITH OUT THEM AND FAR AS THE DOCTORS. DR DUNCAN DR HOBSON I COULDNT OF ASK FOR ANYTHING BETTER. I WAS SAID WHEN DR.EJEH LEFT SHE WAS THE ONE THAT STARTED THE LIFE SAVING PROCEDURE.SO IT IS ALL UP TO U. BUT IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS EMAIL ME
I think that sometimes we are given red flags and we have to choose what to do with them. Only you can answer this question, but for me I would run to another surgeon. This is very telling, I know that this may not be how all patients are treated but how would you feel if you were the ONE!!!
I have been to Atlanta Medical Center's ICU to visit post wls leak survivors and it is not a pretty sight, and something that still gives me nightmares.
