Had my one month post op visit yesterday...
Hey Gang!!
Wanted to let everyone know that I had my one month post op visit yesterday. Yes, I will be 6 weeks post op wednesday. Just had a hard time getting back is all. Everything went very well. I have not had any complications at all. I give thanks to the Lord above for that. I am down 39 lbs. WOOOHOOO!!! I also got a B12 Shot yesterday. I have been feeling like an old battery that has seen too many visits to the recharger. LOL. It is so amazing how quickly I started to feel the B12. I also got a precription for it and filled it. I can give them to myself now at home once a month. I have been experiecing some burning in my pouch. I got prevacid for that. I was supposed to be on prevacid before surgery but didn't feel like I needed it because I never felt any discomfort. Well, my little pouchie sure has put me in my place. I will never take a prescription lightly again. Wish I had filled it 2 months ago. How is everyone else doing? I also have good news other than wls related. I am starting nursing classes on Arpil 1. This has been a lifelong dream of mine and I am overjoyed. I know it will be hard, but I am up for the challenge. Everyone take care. Maybe some of you could drop me a few lines and we could get to know each other better. (the ones I don't already talk to of course)
Take care!!!

Hi Tonya,
I just wanted to say HI and I'm so glad to see you doing so well. My hubby was in the room next to you at Emory Crawford Long and had his surgery the day before you. He's also has lost 39 lbs since surgery. Once he gets his labs done he may also need the B12 shots. I think he can relate to the "old battery" feeling.
Best wishes for a bright future as one of our next nurses.

Wow! Your hubby is doing awesome. Has he had any complications? I think of you two often and wonder how things are. I was really late getting back in for my post op visit. Oh, well, at least I got there. That is the important thing I suppose. Email me from time to time and let me know how ya'll are. I didn't have any bloodwork done before the B12. Dr. Khaitan took one look at me and could tell I was really ran down. But I have been exercising and here lately the energy for that just wasn't there. I think maybe you have to be at least 6 weeks out before they give the B12 to you though. Take care and let me know how everything goes.
HUGGGSSS!!!

Not one complication so far, thank the Good Lord above. He does turn up his nose at my suggestions as to what to eat a lot these days.
He rarely ever did that before. I think he misses eating out. So far other than picking up a couple of things at the drive-thru we haven't been out to eat yet. The past week he has been eating the meat out of cheese burgers at work. Some days he says he can eat about half and other days it is three quarters of the pattie. I pack him Carb Well protein bars (getting hard to find them) and cheese along with his drinks. Drinking has not been a problem for him from the very beginning. So at least I don't think I have to worry about him getting dehydrated. He's hooked on SF Kool-Aid and popsicles. Before surgery he had trouble walking to the neighbors two houses down. Now he can walk just over a quarter mile before his back starts to lock up on him. If these are the improvements in just 6wks what will it be like at 6mos.?
About the B-12 shots....I told him he would have to learn to do it himself or get the nurse at our PCP's office to do it. I HATE needles. *shudder* Guess that is one reason why I try so hard to eat right so that I never have to go on insulin. He liked your comparison to an old battery that had been charged to many times.
