Please mark your calendar and make your plans to attend our monthly WLS meeting on Saturday, March 26, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, Ga., in room 115 of the educational building. This meeting will be first in our series of programs where the meeting will be conducted by volunteers from our membership. Our guest host will be Glenn and Vickie Forsyth. Their topic is nutrition after gastric bypass surgery and they will be sharing recipes as well as preparing some nutritional snack during the meeting. Proper nutrition is one of the most important issues that a post-op patient faces and this should be a very informative meeting. Please be present and bring a friend with you who needs the information we can share with those who desperately need a solution to obesity. I am enclosing the information once again I received asking our support for the current legislation pending in the legislature regarding insurance companies being required to cover the cost of obesity surgery. PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ AND ACT. Please click on the link located on the left of this article under weight loss issues. TIPS WHEN EATING OUT If you're treating yourself to a meal out, here are some tips to help make it a dining experience that is both tasty and good for you. First, do your research - Will the restaurant..... 1) Serve margarine rather than butter with the meal? 2) Serve fat free (skim) milk rather than whole milk or cream? 3) Serve salad dressing on the side? (Had to put this in for Kathy) 4) Use less cooking oil when cooking? 5) Trim visible fat from poultry or meat? 6) Leave all butter, gravy or sauces off a dish? Next, at the restaurant....Select foods which are: ? Steamed Roasted ? Garden fresh Poached ? Broiled Lightly sautéed or stir fried ? Baked
