Surgery Canceled
I got the devastating news yesterday that our secondary insurance will not pay the Medicare deductible and co-pay for my surgery, which was scheduled for next Wednesday. Up until yesterday morning the insurance department kept telling me it was covered, but the insurance company kept saying no. After a three-way conference call, my husband's company learned that they had indeed switched to an insurance on 3/1 that excluded even Medicare secondary coverage on some items. Words can't describe how horrible I feel. To make matters worse, my husband seemed pleased to see my plans fall through. He admitted that he had been afraid I'd die, and then he would have to handle the bills, shopping, cooking, etc. I start, today, searching for another secondary policy, and as of today, I am through taking care of my husband. From now on, taking care of ME will be my top priority. I plan to join a gym this afternoon and then get on the phone, checking out insurance policies. Thanks for all the support, and I hope to have some better news on down the road.

SORRY TO HEAR THE BAD NEWS AND I PRAY THAT THINGS WILL START TO LOOK BETTER FOR YOU. THE GYM PART IS A GOOD START ESPECALLY WITH WIEGHTS, YOU WILL BEGIN TO SEE A DIFFERENCE IN THE WAY THE CLOTHES FIT IN THE FIRST 6 WKS, ALONG WITH WALKING. I BELIEVE I WOULD HAVE DONE ALL THAT ALONG WITH THE SOUTH BEACH DIET, IF ONLY I HAD SOME SUPPORT HERE. I LIVE ALONE AND SOMETIMES IT IS HARD TO COOK FOR ONE PERSON. ANYWAY GOOD LUCK

Hugs, Barb!!! I know you were devastated with the insurance news. Booo!!!! Rather than giving up, I love your spirit!!! You go, Girl!!! Your hubby sounds like he does NOT know how to express his feelings! It's a guy thing...(Sorry, Boys!) all those words were really "Honey, you are my everything. I was very worried about living this life without you!" We're here for you all along the way on this journey!
Sincerely,
Becky
I am so sorry, really words cant comfort now. Just remember God is in controle and dont give up. YOur attitude is great though, no matter how scared your husband was that was not right. I can understand him being scared, but this is a lifechanging thing for you both. for the better. Prayers and Huggs going out to you from north Georgia.
Barbara,
Sorry to hear about the bad news that you got. I know how horrible it must have been. Your husband didn't express himself very well but I think he was trying to say that he had been very worried and was trying to comfort you (albeit crude).
Most of all I love your attitude, you are a strong women and you know what they say, "You can't keep a good/strong woman down." I suspect you will rise above this set back, and we will soon see you posting that you have found another way to get your wls. Meanwhile, you are in my prayers, sweetie.

Barb, I just now saw your post... and I am SO sorry this has happened to you! Maybe it's a good thing for your husband to learn some of what it takes to "handle the bills, shopping, cooking, etc." If it's something he's so afraid of... they say we should all face our fears, right? So like others have said, you go girl, help him face his fears! Take care of yourself. You deserve it.
