Med Alert bracelets - what should they say?

I'm interested in getting a medical alert bracelet, since they now come in all kinds of attractive styles... and wonder what I should say on it. I would want anyone treating me in an emergency (like car accident, etc.) to know that I've had WLS and should not have any NG tube, etc. placed down my throat and risk possibly puncturing the pouch or something! Does anyone have one of these bracelets? Any ideas? Thanks, Cheryl

I would have gastric bypass surgery placed on it. Most medical people and lay people would know what that is...and it wouldnt be beating around the bush. They also will know about the different areas you need to be aware of for labs and ect to watch for...if you are in the hospital, you have to have a high protein diet which they also need to be aware of. If you simply put the surgery you have on it, that should hopefully cover it. D'Lynn

Thanks, D'Lynn. This sounds a lot clearer than a few other suggestions I had heard, like referring to specific procedures to avoid, etc. Cheryl
