who is the best RNYsurgion?

:-l I have heard the names Proctor and Hart. Are there any more and who is the best?

Erin, Dr Hart is my surgeon and I absolutely love him and his staff. Other docs are Duncan, Williams, ect. You need to scope out the drs and find out all you can. Dr Hart's web site is www.atlantabariatrics.com My surgery is scheduled for march 22nd at Emory Dunwoody in Atlanta. I was approved within 1 month of my first visit to Dr Hart but you have to hussle to get the leg work done. D'Lynn

If you don't mind a small open incision - I'd HIGHLY recomend Dr. Celio O. Burrowes. (by small - my incision is less than 3" long). You may not like the bed side manner - but he's a FANTASTIC surgeron and the follow up is great!!!! You have to look for the Doctor that YOU trust the most - it's your life..... Hi Erin There are a lot of awesome doctors out there, just be sure to do the "research" & go with who fits your needs most. My pick is Dr. Champion in Marietta. He is amazing. His skills speak for themselves, but he also offers a very structured aftercare program, which I feel, is extremely important. His website is drchampion.com - just add the www. IT AL DEPENDS WEATHER YOU WANT OPEN OR LAP DR DUNCAN IS GREAT FOR LAP HE DEVELOPED THE LAP FOR GASTRIC BYPASS AND HE AND HIS TEMA ARE EXCELLENT PEOPLE BUT IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW YOU WANT YOUR SURGERY.

I love Dr. Proctor and his program. His support groups are great.. His staff is great... And the hospital he uses is very convenient. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Procter.

There are a number of factors that go into choosing a surgeon. Some of them are: What are the out of pocket expenses? For me the $4000 some odd dollars that Dr. Champion and some of the other programs in the area require was too much for me What is your current BMI? I heard great things about Dr. Hart as well, but my starting BMI was too high for most of the surgeons around here to operate on me, I ended up with Dr. Sidney Appel who is a great surgeon but at least to me, is a complete basshole (yes, that is a deliberate misspelling) Do you want lap or open? I had to have open because of my starting weight Are they convenient to you for aftercare? Do they accept your insurance? I think just about everyone you talk to who didn't have major complications from surgery is going to say their surgeon is the best. I'm glad Dr. Appel did my surgery, but I see his associate Dr. Steinberg for follow up care. Good luck to you! Kelle

Hi. I went to Dr. Macik. He is next to Northside Hospital and I think he is great. He is a really caring man who takes time to listen to you and answers all your questions. He did my lap rny 9 weeks ago and he removed my gallbladder a few years prior. He does surgery out of Northside, North Fulton & Dunwoody Emory. He is cheif of surgery at Dunwoody Emory. I would recommend, Dr. John Daly. His number is 404-252-0433. Next Monday, March 14th is his next scheduled support group meeting at Northside Hospital in the basement classroom. It starts at 6PM and is open to everyone. Dr. Daly is always there and always available to answer questions. I almost guarantee you, if you attend this support group you will look no farther for a surgeon. I guess everybody thinks their doctor is the best , but I have to say Dr. Proctor has been a God sent to my family and me. He operated on my cousin almost 10 years ago and she lost 240 pounds and has kept it off. He operated on her 18 year old daugther 8 months ago and she's lost 113 pounds . He operated on my brother in law 3 years ago , he's lost 100 pounds. He operated on another cousin about 1 1/2 years ago and she's lost 80 pounds. I had my surgery March 31, 2004 and I've lost 86 pounds. We all are doing great !! Dr. Proctor is great and so is his staff and the Lanier Park campus has the best nurses I've ever seen. Also he is near your home , so this is another plus. Your family wouldn't have far to travel to be with you. Good luck and God bless you. Judy
