Questions
Hello everyone its been a while since I have posted with questions so could you all please be kind enough to help me out.
Is there anyone out there whom did not drink or drunk very little of protien shakes and how did it affect you in the beginning? I am having a hard time with the shakes. also what size is the opening of your pouch mine is the size of the opening of a ink pen is this normal because i choke a lot?
Lastly is it okay to eat ramen noodles at 2 months out I am really craving them?
Hi,
at 11 months out I still can not do protein shakes!
I do not like anything milky and do not like the protein mixed in water.
I did find at GNC a protein drink called precision protein with 42 grm of protein in 1 drink, grape and fruit punch flavored these are good and I did drink one every other day for a couple months. (they are kinda expensive)
Your opening sounds fine to me, remember your pouch is only about the size of 3 grapes, so the opening is measurable to that. Choking is a sign of not chewing enough. This is why they stress to us we must chew chew chew .. when you think you are done chew more.
Ramen noodles or any pasta is a HIGH CARB .. starch that turns into sugar ... stay away from colorless carbs, they are not good for you. Find something to replace the craving with.

Hi,
I could never drink protein shakes..It did not really affect me at all, I have and still do, plan all my meals around protein. I am not sure what stage you are at, what you can eat right now, but I get my protein from lean deli meats and cheeses. I eat eggs almost every day, I grill marianated boneless skinless chicken, and have that with almost everything as well.Being a fairly new postop, I know that you are at the stage where you need to have more protein than I do, so if you have a nutrionist check with them.
As far as the Ramen noodles, PROCEDE WITH CAUTION!! I am not one of those people that really worry about carbs and such( although I problably should!)but I will say this, EVERY time I ate Ramen Noodles, It caused some serious discomfort with my pouch. My two boys love them and would eat them every day if I would let them, but if I have more than a BITE, I feel like death. After 2+ years, this has never changed. Now, this is not to say that you will have the same reaction, but just be careful!

Good Morning!
Cathy, I was wondering about pasta (I'm preop). I read that ramen noodles caused you problems, does all pasta?
sigh... An Italian girl born and raised on pasta, yummm, my absolute favorite. Alas, never to pass these lips again? sigh
Reckon if this is the hardest road I travel on my weight loss journey it certainly will be aok!
I'm not much of a meat eater now, I think postop, that will be the hardest thing but I read that you can get your protein from cheese and lean deli meats, which I love both so its all good!
Thanks Miss Cathy, you've been a great source of info for us preops.
hugs to you,
Barb
Barb,
I can make a pretty good spagetti sauce, which I did last night, but actually eating that or really any other pasta is really tricky for me.
Obviously, we eat such a small fraction of what we used to, but even if I really take my time with it, the pasta just really fills up my pouch, and I sort of dump a bit? but not really..It's hard to explain, I get some serious discomfort. I do use Italian Sausage in my sauce, and I know that that never really sits well with me anymore. Lasanga? Okay, this is kinda funny, but I now just eat mostly the sauce and very little of the noodles. I guess that there are going to be some people out there that can handle it, but for me, I really have to be careful.
I really must say that for the most part, I do not feel deprived at all. I can pretty much eat what I want, and since my surgery, there are some things that I used to just love, that now, I don't even have the same cravings for. I have become a master of the one egg omelett, just a little bit of ham, some cheese, mushroom pieces, yum, yum! The best thing about that is the protein! Oh yeah, one other thing that I really have a hard time with is onions! I used to love onions in my salad, omelett, ect...
but unless it is cooked to near mush, I just can't handle it.
Anyway, I have rambled on long enough, and no need to thank me for the advice, when I had my surgery, I didn't have anyone, so my family and I were on our own to live and learn, then I found this board. The people here welcomed me when I first came, and have been a constant support since.
