Medicare patients
hello,
Ive just passed my last hoop. the phsyc said I can have surgery on the condition I see them at least twice before and after surgery. So now I need to know what can I expect to pay for my part of the surgery. with medicare I dont expect it to be as much as Ive heard some people have to pay . but I am on a limited disability income here and need to have some idea.
thanks everyone
Patty

Patty, I was so excited to check your profile and see that you are using Dr. Scarborough. He is my surgeon, too, and i have my surgery one week from this Wednesday - 3/16. I am so happy that this day has finally come. I have Medicare, also, and a secondary policy that picks up the deductible and co-pay. Why don't you ask Pam or Dee what you can expect to pay? They are so sweet and helpful. I feel really fortunate to be able to call them when something comes up. As you probably gathered, Dr. Scarborough expects you to follow his guidelines and get your regular lab work and checkups. As he so clearly put it, why should he do all the work if you are not willing to do your part? We are very fortunate that he will take Medicare. I called many, many surgeons until I found him. Most don't want to settle for what Medicare pays. I don't mean any disrespect to other surgeons, but I almost gave up on my search. Hang in there, and let me know when you get a date.

glad to know someone else with my Dr...I have an appt with him tuesday at 1pm. Im hoping to at least have an attentive date by then. I did all foot work myself. all in just two weeks..lol. it just took till last thursday to find out the phsyc wants to see me at least twice befor surgery. so im calling and making the first apt tomarrow. i really want this surgery.I have been overweight way too long. are you having your surgery at the emory near his office?

Patty, I would LOVE to have you come cheer me up after my surgery, as i will be all alone. My husband is driving me up on Tuesday, 3/15, for my pre-op and then dropping me off at a motel and driving back to S. Georgia. I will catch a cab to the hospital the next morning, Wednesday, 3/16, because I don't have to check in til 10:00 AM for surgery at 12:00 noon. He will not come back up til I am ready to be discharged, so it would be great to have someone come by. I don't have an angel, either, so maybe you could post online that I've come through okay. I'm very excited and just can't wait!
