Psychological Consult..
Monday, I will go in for my psychological consultation. While I am a little apprehensive and nervous I know this is just another hoop that the insurance makes us jump through. I guess as things progress in this journey you begin to wonder if you will ever see the light at the end of the tunnel. Keep reminding myself here I must stay positive.
The dr. I will be seeing is Dr. Alan Williams from Macon, if anyone has ever used him I would love to hear from you. I am anxious to know what to expect and to see what kind of time frame I am looking at before I get the results of this test.
Thanks,
Patrice Rogers
Hi Patrice,
I'm also using Alan WIlliams, and wondering the same thing, LOL I've heard other people say they have used him but no comment as what to expect. (except expect to pay $330.00)
Basically I can't answer your question but wanted to let you know you are not taking this journey alone.
My appt was for tomorrow morning but I had to reschedule for the following Monday. WHo are you using for your nutritional counseling?
I will look forward to hearing from you how it goes tomorrow.
Remember "For every thing there is a season..." and 'good things come to those who wait'... and, well, you get the idea
I'm getting through by remember I put it in God's hands and He decides when the times is right.
Now, ask me that again when I'm waiting insurance approval
Take care of you,
Barb

Barb,
I saw the nutritionist at Dr. Harts office...her name is Rachel. While I can't say that I was enthused with her, I know she is just doing her job. Guess I have a hard time with a lady that weighs 95lbs at the most telling me how to eat. I should take it all in and know that she is at that weight because she knows exactly how to eat. However, I did make a committment to her to do everything she suggested.I am person of my word... So I am committed to making my life better with each passing day.
After my visit with Dr. Williams I will let you know what to expect. I just hope that I don't get that same feeling with him...I look forward to hearing from you throughout your journey also. Looks like we both are in this together along with many other supportive folks.
Patrice
Barb,
The consultation with Dr. Williams was great.. Not once did I feel uncomfortable with him. In fact he and I got along great. He even commented on how well he thought I had researched this procedure. We talked in depth about it and before he could even ask me certain questions I gave him the answers.. After he talked to me he took me to a room to fill out a questionaire.. I told him it was like being in school again. A standardized test.. He chuckled and told me he could see the teacher in me..LOL...... I feel it was well worth the $335.00 that I paid him that day if it will bring me one step closer in my journey.Plus each $$$ I spend now means one less down the road. I have to say Dr.Williams was super......plus he said Dr. Hart would have my evaluation by the end of this week.. Can't ask for any better than that.....Now on to my next test. I have an endoscopy and a colonoscopy on Tuesday, March 8th. Then my testing is officially over! (I hope)

Patrice,
I had my consultation on Saturday (not with your doc - mine was with Dr. Walfish in Atlanta), and it wasn't as bad as I feared. I was surprised by some things that came out of it. I had never been to a counselor or psychologist before. He cleared my for surgery, but required that I see a dietician (which I already had scheduled) to work on my stress eating and wants me to take a stress management class. Good luck with your evaluation! Remember every hoop jump brings you closer to your goal!

Dr. williams was my psych Dr. So here is what I know. A few years ago he actually was a child psych. He saw my son. So I was surprised when I saw him myself. He does all the psych visits for the Macon Drs that do the surgery. He will ask you to take a few tests. Personality one and another one. Ya know like when was the last time you wanted to hurt yourself. When was the last time you hurt someone else physically. Hint here folks the answer should be none!!!! Then he talks to you about your home situation and the support you have. That is a big part of this. If you don't have support at home then you will not do well with this surgery. It is a proven fact. He asks you what you are doing for support groups, etc... It only took me about 45 minutes. He runs late all the time so be expecting that. I took a book to read.
He is very nice and makes you feel comfortable. He does not judge us because of our weight or the reasons we want the surgery. So don't be anxious on that. Just be yourself and you will do fine.
I passed didn't I!!!! and ya'll meet me the other night at Cheddars! LOL!!!
