NEED ANSWERS!!!
My surgery was Feb. 4 and I am having problems with the protein drink. How much protein does one need in a day? I am on soft diet and am wondering if I could make up the protein some other way besides protein shake? I have not found one that did not make me quesy..Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Martha
Can you drink milk ? I mix 1 scoop of Isopure protien power with 12 oz. of 2 % Carb Countdown milk and 3 or 4 packs of splenda and 1 teaspoon of vanilla flavoring and put in the freezer about 30 minutes. It is great. I also mix fat free sugar free Jello pudding mix in 2 cups of milk and add 1 scoop of protien power and it taste good , too. Judy
Martha, I am pre-op and my surgery is march 22nd, but I have been scouting for things to make my protein intake adequate. I have looked at the Dry Skim Milk and it has a lot of protein in it, if you could mike it with pudding or oatmeal or something like that it would help you some. Some of the other guys may have more input for that.

I am 9 months out and just recently made my goal weight of 127. I have NEVER found any of the pre-made protein drinks palatable - even though I used to do SlimFast diets all the time! Here is what I HAVE found works for me, and it may for you too. It's a little more work, but it's really worth it, because it packs a big protein punch:
1/2 cup skim milk Plus (Kroger has it, I don't know who else)
1/2 container of strawberry Low Carb or Ultra yogurt (I use Yoplait Ultra)
1 scoop of flavorless protein powder
3 frozen strawberries
Put all in a blender and voila - you have a GREAT protein shake and it is far easier to drink than anything I 've found at GNC, Whole Foods, or anything. Good luck! (The frozen strawberries make the shake REALLY cold, like I like it .. but you don't need them really).
I DRINK ONE CALLED XS GO UNDER WWW.QUIXTAR.COM
THEY ARE PRE MIXED AND THEY ARE GOOD 35 GR OF PROTEIN
I absolutely LOVE www.unjury.com shakes. The chocolate especially, to me tastes like Mayfield's chocolate milk. But I'll add frozen strawberries and sometimes a half banana. I like the vanilla as well. You can really come up with combinations of fruit in that one. I haven't tried putting sugar free jello but I bet it would work!
Trust me....you are still so new, your taste isn't quite "back to normal" nor have you built up a tolerance for the protein taste as well as splenda and other artificial sweeteners that most of us have. You'll eventually hit on one you can tolerate...or really like. I had to experiment as well. My g/f LOVES www.bariatriceating.com "fuzzy navel" that you mix with water and I, personally, don't care for it. I can "get it down" but it's more of a chore. The shakes I do, I truly LIKE. They're like a treat!
Good luc****ep trying! Have you tried a spoon of peanut butter on a banana slice? Just don't go overboard with the pnut butter yet.
