H. Pylori/Endoscopy

What happens if I can't stay off antacids for two weeks? I am miserable every night no matter what I eat. If I can't - they will do a "scope" which I assume is an endoscopy - what exactly will happen - does it hurt? Susan

Hi Susan, An endoscope really isn't too bad. They usually twilight you pretty good for it. I told my doctor to make sure I was out pretty good, he said ok, they next thing I knew, I was waking up, and they were done. The only prep for it was to be NPO past midnight, so except for the fact that they didn't do mine until 630pm, it wasn't too bad. Good Luck with it if you have to have it. I think so. It hasn't been explained very well, but it is to check for problems with ulcers(?). Thanks for the encouragement. I feel better now! Susan
