Lab Results-
I had my labs run a week or so ago. Everything came back in the mid to high end of the normal range. Three months ago when I had them run b/c I was feeling bad, my B-12 was very low. Since that time I have started on the B-12 shots and every thing loks great! My B-12 was 713 and then high end of the range is 911. And this was taken before I was due another shot. SO that is good!
Everyone keep taking those supplements!!

Hey, Tonya,
How do you get your iron. Do you take a supplement? Dr. Fields put me on Ferrous Sulfate, but a WLS friend who is a nurse says its not well-absorbed. She also gave me the research to prove it. Hmmmm. What to do? What to do?
Congrats on the good results. I learn to give myself B12 shots tomorrow...should be interesting!

Becky
Becky,
I have been taking a gentle iron pill. It's a vegetable iron that doesn't cause constipation. I keep meaning to do research to make sure it's absorbable but I keep forgetting. So far it's been good I guess since my levels are good. What kind of iron did your friend tell you to use?
It gets so confusing doesn't it?
It is confusing! Jen takes Trinsicon. It has iron, B-12, intrinsic factor (needed to absorb B-12), folic acid, and small amount of Vit C. Today, I went for a nurse visit and gave myself my first B12 shot. Yay!!! I asked my PCP to call in Trinsicon for me. We will see.
All of my blood work came back okay, but on the low side of normal. I also know that I do not have Mono or thyroid problems. At least, it's good to know that there's nothing seriously wrong. I am on a mission to have more energy! I am also going to do everything possible to avoid iron infusions. I've heeard those are painful...like chemo.
I hope Nick is better!
Becky, are you eating meats to get your protein in? iron rich veggies? and STILL feelin' poorly. I remember before thinking that you weren't eating enough, or maybe it's just that I'm eating SO MUCH! lol I'm doing a lot better as far as energy. I've just bitten the bullet and since I'm not tired ALL the time, I'm gonna tough it out til my 8 months checkup with Dr. Burrowes. I certainly have some "tired" days...but sometimes I can attribute them to previous night's bedtime being too late, etc. Keep us posted.
