I live in Woodstock/Acworth and I am looking for a support group close by. I just hate to drive to Atlanta but I will if I can not find one closer. I am in the stage of trying to get insurance approval.

Although my Dr is Titus Duncan, I often attend this support group of Dr. Smith's just because its close. Here is a recent email I got from the coordinator. This group is located at Windy Hill Rd and 75. Contact her and she'll put you on the mailing list. You don't have to do anything but show up. Good Luck! __________________________________________________ Hello All: It is time to get in touch with ourselves. Dr. Helen Vantine will provide the program for next weeks support group meeting. She will provide insight into meditation and help you understand some of the challenges bariatric surgery patients face. She offers common sense strategies for coping with everyday issues and struggles. Join us, get the support you need to succeed, and help others in the process. The March 17th meeting will feature Dr. Dennis Smith as the speaker. We have asked him to specifically address common abnormal lab values and medications weight loss surgery patients should avoid. He will also answer your medical/surgical questions. We look forward to a packed house. April 21, David Balentine, with GNC vitamins will present information on supplements and provide samples of protein drinks, bars, and vitamins. GNC does have calicium citrate chewables now; check with your local store for details. May 19th, Tommy Redmond, with Fitness Advantage, will give a presentation on exercise and give away a free consultation and fitness session. Don't forget, Dr. Smith is conducting information meetings on a monthly basis at Kennestone Hospital for patients that are interested in finding out more about weight loss surgery. Potential patients should call 770-956-STAR to register for these programs. Look forward to seeing you next week!
