Hi fellow GA Folks!!!

I just wanted to drop a quick hello to my fellow Georgians! I found the main message board but didn't realize that there is a GA board too!! I had surgery a little over 6 weeks ago and doing wonderful as I hope all of you are too. Maybe one of you out there can help me with something...I am looking for a support group near me that meets anytime other than Tues and Thurs. I do water aerobics on these days and hate to miss my workout but all of the support groups around me that I know of meet on these days...so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks GA's!!

Hi Jen, My surgeons support group meets the 1st Monday of each month, and it is not limited to just his patients. I think meeting time is at 6pm, and it is located at Northside hospital physicians bldg. Not sure how far that is from Carrolton, but I come all the way from Macon for it. Dr. Daly is there for the entire meeting, and is very accessible to everyone. Susan

Jen, Welcome to the Georgia group! I don't personally know of any support groups out your way, I am looking for some myself. Where do you do your water aerobics at? I did that several years ago, and it was alot of fun, and I really need to start excersizing again! Congratulations on your surgery, it really will change your life! Cathy Martin

I am doing the water aerobics at the Highland athletic club right beside Atlanta Medical. Its about an hours drive from me but I just love the people over there so much that I keep going. Most everyone over there is either a post-op or pre-op bariatric patient so its kind of like a support group all in itself. They have it Mon-Fri at 6pm but I only go on Tues and Thurs since its an hour away. Maybe we both can find a good support group.

Hello Jen, Im new to this but I have joined a support group that meets at the wellstar Paulding hospital in Dallas GA THE SECOND SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH. the next one is March 12th 2005. confrence room by the cafeteria. I also joined their yahoo group named wingsofthewest. They are a great supportive group!! Patty

Patty, I live in Hiram, and am interested in this group. Are there people there in all stages of pre and post op? My surgery was over 2 years ago, but the support now that I need is even more crucial than it was 2 years ago. What time are the meeting at, and can anyone come regardless of where they had their surgery? (mine was in Ohio) Thanks for any help that you can give me! Cathy Martin

Hi Cathy, Anyone can come and its 9am every second saturday of every month. I live in dallas off 61. and there are people of all stages that go.some two or three years out and some in the first few months as well as just starting the process. and it doesnt matter where you had your surgery. I will be there for sure in march and look forward to meeting you there. Patty

Patty, Thank you so much for the information!!If I have my days right the March meeting will be on the 12th? DARN,DARN!!! For Valentines Day, my husband got me a day at the spa, and just yesterday I set it all up for the 12th, and I need to be there at 9am.The April one on the 9th is already on my calender! I really think that this support group is the way that I need to go, and I really look forward to meeting some people out our way that know just what we go through. Sorry that I won't make the March meeting, but I will be there for April, and maybe I will get to meet you at the monthly dinner that this GA board has, although I am not to sure where it will be for March. Cathy If I can find out where the dinner is I would be glad to go. I do need a walking partner though *s*. let me know if you want to ever go walking.see ya soon and enjoy your day at the spa....mine brought me flowers a card and a kiss....what a great day valentines is!!!
