Numbness and tingling....?
Pre-op my surgeon had me on iron supplement 3x a day. I haven't been taking it post-op because she didn't tell me too. The reason she put me on it was this. My iron was low, but not anemic levels. She wanted to boost it up before surgery. Now here is my question. I am post op 2 weeks yesterday. Could I already have a deficiency in iron? My thighs and legs have been numb and tingling for a few days now. Today while I sat on the toilet(sorry) both my legs fell asleep. Had to hold onto the wall to walk. What is up with this? Did anyone else or does anyone have this problem? You veterans get on board and tell me what to do. Should I call my pcp or my surgeon? i don't like this at all.
Thanks,
Tonya Waters
P.S. I am taking all my supplements plus sublingual B-12. Is my body absorbing the sublingual B-12?
TONYA I WOULD DEFINTLEY CALL YOUR PCP DOCTOR LET HIM DO SOME LAB WORK JUST TO CHECK LET HIM KNOW YOU WANT THIS DONE. I TAKE THE SUBLINGUAL B-12 ALSO I TAKE 500MG A DAY SOME TAKE 1000 BUT MY B-12 LEVELS ARE OK. WELL I HAD LAB WORK DONE LAST WEEK SO IM WAITING ON RESULTS. BUT AGAIN CALL THE DOCTOR GET IT CHECKED OUT I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM I HAD TO WALK WITH A CANE BUT I HAD DIFFERNT PROBLEMS I WAS IN HOSPITAL FOR 28 DAYS SO WHEN I CAME HOME I WAS REALLY WEAK. WELL IF I CAN FURTHER HELP EMAIL ME.
Tonya,
I think don't worry about it because i had the EXACT same thing and it puzzled my doctor. He went ahead and did blood work and everything was normal. He couldn't never explain it. It must be something common though. But OF COURSE if you are concerned you should always ask your doctor. It never hurts to be sure!!
Congrats on your surgery!!!
