Had my initial consultation today
All I can say is wow! 
I am not easily impressed, but I was impressed with Dr. Burrowes. He was so informative and thorough. He explained things to me like he had all the time in the world.
Dr. Burrowes does all six surgerys. He drew pictures of all six procedures. This was very helpful to me because even though I've looked at pictures on the internet and watched a disgusting video in his office, I still couldn't visualize the procedure. Now I've got it. He explained the pluses and minues so simply. Fobi Pouch is the procedure he prefers. He was taught by Dr. Fobi himself. But he tells you clearly with respect to the surgeries he will do what you want. I came in thinking I wanted DS, but now I know it's not the choice for me. You decide within insurance limits what you want. I asked him about 25 questions. He never seemed like I was asking too many or taking too much time. Now I know why I waited 2 hrs to see him, I guess everyone is getting the same courtesy. He was worth the wait. He does between 12 and 16 surgeries a week including revisions. DS is becoming increasingly popular although he didn't recommend it for me. He was very, very, very poignant about the risk. They even gave me a little test to take after I read some disclosures.
He does do all the standard pretesting but doesn't require sleep apnea test for most. I have insurance issues and he told me what I need to do to get started with that. I'm probably just going to wait until my open enrollment and switch to hubby's plan for the surgery. In the meantime I'll get all the psych evals and nutrition stuff out of the way. I won't have hubby's insurance until July 1 so I have time to leisurely get it all done and continue to pray about this decision. Although after talking to the surgeon I'm much more comfortable.
