Does anyone know of any insurance companies that are still going to cover WLS at all in 2005? From everything I've seen, it sounds like every company just about, is excluding the procedures? The only reason my husband was staying at his job he currently has, is due to the fact I was having surgery this month. Yesterday we found out that our ins provider made WLS an exclusion on our policy last month. So now he's planning to change companies, but we would like to move to one that does have WLS in the policy. I have no idea if there are any companies left! Melissa

Melissa, I was told by my insurance company that they also were going to have a written exclusion in 2005 (aetna), which really stressed me since my surgery date is Jan. 4 2005! If I were you, I would call your insurance company and find out for sure if they are excluding it. Be sure they check your policy because if your husbands company purchased this as an add-on for next year, then you are safe. I found out the railroad has purchased it, so I am covered for 2005. I had to speak to two people at Aetna before I got the answer to my question. Did you say your surgery is this month? Good Luck. Carrie

The most intresting thing I find is that people think it's the insurance comapnies dropping to coverage and it's not - its what is inclusive of the policies your getting through your employer! My employer has kept the bariatric clause - and we have BCBS of California. (Blue Cross). I wish you the best of luck and pray that you find the answers to your insurance questions!
