Hi, Cathy, We all have dodged our own bullets if we're honest. I could very easily be in your situation down the road. I have the same tendencies. Thank you for the warning and wisdom!!! Big hugs to you!!! Becky

Hello Cathy. I can totally relate to what you are saying. I believe that obesity is a disease (I don't care how many times people tell me it's not). Truth is, if it weren't something serious, so many people wouldn't have such a big problem. I congrat you on coming out and saying what you had to say. There are alot of people that never tell people about their problems with food. Now that you have taken that first step, know that you aren't alone. I haven't had my surgery yet, but I know of the hold that food has over my life. It is something that we all will need to work so hard on. It is like a drug. I get a high everytime I over eat. It's very common. I've also read Dr. Phil's book and in there he says something that stuck out in my mind. He said that we get a huge pay off for over eating, that's why we do it. A "normal" person might wonder why a 800 pound person keeps eating. It's because of the pay off. To fight this I would suggest counseling. I see a psychologist, and a psychiatrist weekly. It's for my depression, but even after I have my surgery, I will continue to see them. I cant tell you how important it is to have someone with that kind of education to talk to. They will help you understand some of the things that you do. I would also suggest going to group meetings. I think that it would be very inspiring to talk with people who have the same problem. Remembering how you felt before, and how hard you've worked. I wish you the best of luck with this. It's very hard, don't beat yourself up so much for what happened. You made a mistake, you've realized something and now it's time to work on fixing it. I know that you can get through this, just by the way that you've wrote your letter. Just remember that you aren't alone and keep fighting. God Bless you and your family, Tiffany.
