I've finally...finally been scheduled for surgery on Wednesday, 12/8. Did my pre-op today and just face clear liquids and bowel prep tomorrow. While I should be resting up, I find my self anxious and all tied up in knots. Not necessarily desperate to eat...but just wanting to (old habit). You see its after 1:00am...and I'm still on the computer!! Some one please help me!!!

Hi Cindy! It's normal to be anxious. I remember right before my surgery I was cleaning, up all night, it was crazy. It reminding me of the "nesting" syndrome right before you have a baby...LOL! You are gonna do great! What hospital will you be in? Tami

Cindy, This is very normal to be anxious. I always "babble" when I get nervous and I know those nurses were probably wishing I would shut up. As far as the wanting to eat...if you figure out how to cure that ailment, let me know! I'm over a year post-op and I still have the "want to's". The great thing about now is that I can't do all my "want to's" or I will be sick...this is a good thing. What you're doing is going to help you live again. You're eating habits may never be the same again, but you'll be living life a little fuller in satisfaction outside of food. Just keep reminding yourself of all the people who have had the surgery done and their successes. This really kept me going when I would get nervous. I actually was more nervous about NOT having the surgery done. I felt like someone needed to pinch me so I would know it was real...then they stuck me with a needle... Good luck with the bowel prep! Phyllis Vail Surgery Date: 11/17/03 Lost: 106 lbs.

Cindy, I think everyone gets anxious before their surgery. I know I did. My thoughts and prayers are with you. If you need anything at all, just yell. You will do great. Hugs, Debra =^..^=

Hey Cindy, I agree with the other posts. Just try to keep yourself busy (I hope I'm not too late). Do some web searching (www.bored.com will give you some idea's!), go for a drive, turn on some music and move like you wont beable to right after surgery. Anything to get your mind off of things. Hope this helps God Bless, Tiffany. Ps- keep us posted!! We'll pray for you.
