Hi, Does anyone have any suggestions about a good birth control method? I young and would like to have children one day but I have read about not getting pregnant for the first 2 years. What affects this could have to an unborn child? So I was wondering what other then birth control pills are out there to use? Lisha H

I discussed this with my doctor and with my OBGYN and the best recommendation is truely ABSTINANCE.....however in this day and age that's not always possible..... Their first recommendation was condoms. The next recommendation was low hormone birth-control. Because we do have a LOT of hormones being released with the rapid weight loss, the lower the hormone amount introduced into the body the better. My GYN says that "weight gain" from being on the pill is usually because of the hormones that are being introduced into the body - most women comfort themselves with food. I don't know that I 100% believe that - but it will remain to be determined. (At least my opinion will be determined.) Good luck. Maybe chatting with your doctors would prove to be beneficial to you. Dee Dee Thanks but I don't think my husband will agree with ABSTINANCE..... However I go in on Thursday and I was going to ask my doctor if they can recommend something. Thanks Lisha H

I still take my birth control pill but as an extra protection my husband agreed to use condoms as well just in case. We do want another baby but not until I am safely at goal and get the green light from my surgeon and ob/gyn. Wishing you all the best, Theresa

Lisha, I have an IUD and love it. It's good for 5 years and then it is removed. Maybe talk that over with your doctor. -Deana
