Need encouragement
Janet ,you can do this it is hard but I am making it day by day I stared my pre-op diet on 8-17 and I have lost 37lbs so far I am doing a low fat diet only 10 fat grams a day and lots of water and a treadmill,I am now waiting to hear from insurance and the wait is killing me,I know you can do this just think of the reward you will have in the end a healthy life.....hugss AmyC.

Hi Janet, I think that you've started on the right path with the high protein/low carb diet.
I was told back in April that I needed to lose weight before surgery could be performed as well. I was 367 lbs(BMI 57). I bought the Atkins New diet revolution book and started following it. At my last visit to my PCP in Oct. I was 326 lbs. I'm proof that low carb works I guess.
Best of luck to you, may you have success with the low carb diet as I have. Still waiting on insurance to make decision about my surgery.
James

Hi Janest
You can definately do this!! You are off to a great start with the your choice of diets & incorporating exercise. I was a little frustrated when my surgeon told me to lose 30 lb prior to surgery - I was just so ready to have the procedure. I did a modified low fat version of the Atkin's diet, drank tons of water & by my surgery date I had lost 50 lb vs the 30 he required. If I can do it you can do it. It is tough, but it gets you off to a great start & you will be 42 lb ahead of the game! I wish you all of the best but I am sure you will do great! God bless
Angel
