I give up........
To All I have given up I have come so far and today just did it! I have been trying to get BCBS to fax a copy of my approval letter to my doctor office. My doctor office said that they couldn't not call them. They said it was my responsibility okay. So BCBS said they have mailed out 2 letters to the doctor but the doctor has not received them. So I called and ask them to resend a 3rd letter. They said they are sending a 3rd letter since Friday of last week. Now remind you that both are located in Atlanta, GA but it hasn't made it to them yet! So Christiana a member of WLS suggested that I do a conference call. She is seeing the same doctor and one of the staff told her that if she conference them on the line she will then process her information then. Well I did that and the doctor office told me that they couldn't give BCBS there federal tax Id number because I was on the line. The doctor office ask BCBS to call them back with me not on the line and they said "NO' that they couldn't do that. So they lady (I won't call her name) told her okay and good bye. I called the lady back( again I won't call her name) and ask her why did she do that. She told me they couldn't do that because that is against hippa rules. So I'm some what upset they said its my responsibility and I tried to make it mine. But something is wrong with the mail if this is the 3rd letter. Thanks for listening to my tears... ......

Sounds like your doctor is affiliated with Emory....You are just going to have to get firm and ask to speak with a supervisor at your doctors office...yes, it is there responsibility for them to call...you have filled out all the medical releases I'm sure...not to mention, it's the surgeon's office who sends the request in...it's is between the insurance company and your surgeon's office....Don't listen to anyone at the front desk...ask to speak with Sonja (if this is emory)....because the front desk gets it all wrong...IT IS THERE RESPONSIBILITY....doesn't it make you wonder how your aftercare is going to be managed????
I can tell you that if you are talking to Constance to beware she does not know insurance, and she does not know the insurance laws...she does not even understand what the surgeon is responsible for...I've had to go over her head many times...and she was wrong each time.
Good Luck, Hang in there,
Chris S
No, its not Emory! Its Dr. Titus Duncan office he is good but everyone says the staff is great but I'm not feeling great at the moment. I think we come so far for them to not get off their butts and make a baby step. I cried coming home today because of this! I didn't have anyone to pick up the phone a tell so I waited till I got home to put this on the message board.
Thanks

Hey Chris I just read what you posted and I am using Emory. Sounds like this is Dr. Khaitans office. I have talked to Constance but I don't know what to think about her. If I have to go over her head, Who is it I need to talk to? I had to change surgeons b/c mine isn't doing the surgery anymore. So now I'm stuck with this. I have been told that Dr. Khaitan is a really good surgeon. My other doctord have referred me to her. Is there anything else I need to now? I've got my seminar on the 11th of Nov. I guess I will get to meet her then. I'm not sure. Thanks in advance for any information you might have.

I am inclined to agree with you, Modean...perhaps showing up there at the BCBS office and getting that letter in hand and physically taking it to the doctor's office and putting it in THEIR hand will do the trick! Anyway, that is what I, personally, would do! They would be so sick of me, they would be happy to see me discharged from their care AFTER surgery!
Lisha...could it possibly be that they do not have the correct "fax" number for the doctor's office? It is awfully strange that they didn't even receive the mailed copies, either.
PLEASE do not give up! You DESERVE this...after working so long and hard to achieve it!
Please know that we are praying for you!

Hi, Lisha,
You are soooooo close. Don't give up, Dear Lady. Be sure to check out the fax numbers. If the approval has been faxed as opposed to mailed, I think that may be the source of your trouble. I also used Dr. Duncan's office, and I truly believe the fax machine is wicked! If the approval has been mailed and lost, then I might do the personal delivery thing myself! In no time, this will be a BAD memory, but just a "blip" in your journey!
Huge Hugs to you,
Becky
