Sorry nobody is responding to your post :-(

Have you been to the seminar or support meeting?  They are both at the seminar, and you will have time to talk to them in person...

If you go to a support meeting you'll get to meet their patients. Most of them will be happy patients though, because mad patients likely won't stay active in the support groups.

I would check with both of them to see who does the fills. Since Duncan is so busy, I wonder if he has time to do fills or if he has a nurse to do them.  This would be important to me.  Also, check to see if it's outpatient or not and if the surgery is done at the hospital or outpatient center.

You should decide if these things matter to you and which you will and will not compromise on.

Sorry can't help.  I have 2 coworkers that went to him (Duncan).  Both initially raved, one had to go back and have a revision (not b/c she gained, I forget the term - it's where her food was getting stuck.  Said he was a butt to her the 2nd go round.  Someone else told me they didn't see him until pre-op!  so, that alone cancelled him out for me.

Best of luck though!!!
I have an @$$h*le, therefore I have an opinion. or two... or forty.

Thanks Guys but after researching and reading a lot of negative stuff about being banded period I just decided that this is in my heart and what I know I need to do for me and I know I am covered by God and he will get me through whatever choice I make "The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God can not protect you " I believe this so I have heard alot of great things  about these docs and I have peachstate and heard they cover Lapband so i am going to the seminar on the16th and I am calling my PCP tom to get a head start so wish me luck and hopefully I will see you all on the other side as well as along the way ........

Oh an dreal quick for anyone who is new reading these posts don't allow all the bad about these surgeries to scare you into a  a bad choice for your self everyone is different and everyones bodies are different and nobody can decide for you , There are positive and negatives to everything you do in life (except praising God)..lol For every 20 people saying something bad there are 40 saying something good do what is in your heart and what you feel is best for you . This is what I have learned in the last couple days................. Nerves are out the window ****il surgery day )..lol

I'm a patient of Dr. Duncan's.

Here's my experience.   I saw him once before surgery and I've seen him once after surgery.  I'm 8 months out.

So I can't really say a lot about him.  However, as far as the fills go. (lap band) The office needs help in that area.  One of the dr.'s left(she was awesome) and it hasn't been the same since.

Also, I would prefer to have my fills under fluoroscopy(sp?) and this practice does not do that.   I wished I would have known about this prior to surgery.  I would have chosen another practice.

Other than that, can't say much more.

Hi thanks for the response I don't know where you live in GA but can't you go to a fill center like the duluth fill usa something like that ? Maybe they do it the way you like  what is the fluoroscopy? How have you done with they band and  whatis the difference to between the lap and realize band?

I was banded by Dr. Hobson on 4/30/09. I like Dr Hobson, however the experience has not been pleasant at all. They are partial to Gastric Bypass. I do not even have clear cut portion sizes for my post op diet. Atlanta Medical Center was not good either. I ended up in my local ER all day Friday because they refused to keep me over night. So far not a great experience. I go back for my post op visit on the 19th. Maybe I will change my mind after that visit!

I thought I wanted lapband before I decided on DS. I swore nobody was cutting my stomach, but I got over that quickly.  Not trying to change your mind about lapband, because it would be my 2nd choice, just wanted to let you know my history.   As a result of initially wanting the band. I did a good bit of research on lapband and realize.

You mentioned having your fills done somewhere other than Duncan's office.  I have found most docs only want to do post op maintenance on their own patients. You need to research this before you get banded and make sure you have a plan in action. You also need to see who is in your area that would do fills and accept Medicaid.  If you HAD to go to Duncan's office to get your fills would you be able to handle that?   I'm not sure if the fill center will accept Medicaid.  I am in the same predicament with my surgeon being in Charlotte. I had to come to peace w/ traveling there a few times a year for the rest of my life for post op visits. I have not found anyone to see me in GA post op yet.

I agree wholeheartedly with you about trusting in God and not the opinions of people on the blogs.  If I had listened to online rumors, I would have missed out on my surgeon.   I believe God will be with me no matter who does my surgery.  I have cried and prayed over this and have made peace with it.     "God has not given us the spirit of fear, but  of power and love and sound mind. " 2Timothy 1:6

Research Research Research!! Try to go to as many seminars and supprt meetings as you can. God will guide you in the right direction, and you will know when you meet the right surgeon for you.
