1st,  let me preface this post by asking anyone offended by whining to click the little "x" in the upper right hand corner of your screen, or better yet,  click block member at the bottom of this post  and I'll magically disappear from your life forever!!!  I don't particularly enjoy the posts of everyone on here all the time, but I am adult enough to scroll along to the next one without always having something negative to say.

I don't know what goes on in your personal live outside of this cyber world, but I imagine it must be miserable if you're aways sending out negative vibes online...  Having never met you, all I have to judge you is your posts on here, and you don't paint a pretty picture.

I'll pray for you. I'll try to pray in several different denominations, because I don't want you to put anymore negativity out there because I prayed to the wrong God, Goddess, Lord, Higher Being, Spiritual Power, or whatever you prefer.... I'm certain that would offend you too! You do believe in prayer don't you?

I'm serious, not being sarcastic.. Nothing would pain me more than to bring negative karma into your life, so PLEASE delete me from your world.

In fact, delete everybody that annoys you on this board. You may find you're left lonely because from what I can acertain, everyone on here bothers you (except the lurkers that don't post, but do they count)! And we annoy just you and your psychotic cohort, who I elected to block, sheesh, she is wackier than you! Maybe we're normal and you're the one with a problem? Hmmm...???

Oh the joys of modern technology.

For the other rational minded, diplomatic, sympathizing adults, please feel free to read on...  Excuse me for being in a foul mood, but how much drama can a fat girl take?    I'm usually pretty chipper, but sheesh..

What would I do without you divas?  Group hug to everyone.

I just got off the phone with another Cigna Rep, James to confirm the wls requirements. Since now I know they're prone to change things, I thought it would be a good idea to phone them once a week to make sure I don't miss anything.

Soooo, here's the latest.    The weight management coaching program has to be done ONLINE, not on the phone.  He told me if you do the phone coaching it won't count.  You may elect to continue the phone coaching after you complete the online process if you wish.

It seems like everyone is doing the phone coaching, so I thought I'd share that this may be a waste of your time.  The online coaching takes 12 weeks, and you can't fastpath it.

As a precaution, I had already enrolled in both the phone and online programs.  I anticipated some drama, and I guess I found it.  So, luckily this time I prepared myself.

MY guess is if you complete the phone coaching, you could try submitting to insurance and MAYBE you'll get lucky and they'll accept it, but I'd go on and do the online one just in case to speed it up in the event they won't accept the phone coaching.

My suggestion, is we all do BOTH coaching programs. That way they can't come up with another bogus loophole to deny anybody.

As always, please let us know any updates you find.

OK, thanks for the Group Hug cause I needed it.

I am so sick of the flip/flopping crap.  I am throughly disguisted with this whole process.  Don't worry I'm not giving up!  I plan on calling the SHBP in the morning.  This is ridiculous.

After 47 minutes on hold while a very sweet lady searched and called supervisors, I got the same answer you did. I am in week 2 of that. But, like you, I am going to do both just to make sure!!

I go next Monday to my psych appt. Then, this will be all that is holding me up.

We will get through it, aggravating as it is. As my mom says, it builds character!

Hey, I am one of those SHBP Cigna members.  I do not know what you mean by weight managment coaching.  Do you have Cigna HRA?

Oh, yes.

Cigna has made a couple of changes since October!

Since we all seem to get a different answer each week, you should probably call the number on your insurance card and discuss the requirements with them, but in short here is what is required as of now:

1.  Health Risk Assessment - this is online on your mycigna main page under myhealth

2.  Lifestyle Management Weight Coaching - online and by phone, right now they are saying it can be done online, before they were saying you had to do itby phone, so most of us are doing both.

3. 6 month physician supervised weight loss program, to include documentation of diet, activity and vital signs

4.  A visit with a nutritionist.

5. Psychological clearance

6.  PCP clearance and recommendation

7. History of BMI of 40 for 24 months - or - BMI of 35 - 39.9 for 24 months with at least one co-morbidity.

Please correct me if I missed anything!! This is the list I went over with the rep tonight.

I've done all but #2 from this list.  I hadn't heard about the Lifestyle Management Weight Coaching.  I did the Health Risk Assessment to get the $25 gift card!  ha

I was also told we need a biometric screening.. which is bloodwork that includes cholesterol, thyroid, and blood sugar.

If they kepp changing the requirements, then go to your mange care manager at work and complain. They should be able to help keep the same requirements when the plan went into effect. Or go to the insurance commissioner and complain.

Thanks atlantagator for the suggestion.  Unfortunately, we all work for the state in some capacity or another.  I don't know about these other ladies and gents, but the benefits manager of my school system can't provide any assistance whatsoever.  And benefits for WLS were just added this past January 1st after being excluded for many years.  Unfortunately, they made the decision to cover it and "forgot to mention" what the requirements would be.  They've been spelling them out over time and currently CANNOT provide it in writing.

As far as the insurance commissioner, I did that this week...

And welcome to the GA board.  Never saw you around here before...

Hi LaShelle,

First of all I want to say that I love you all and I hope and pray that you guys get the wls that you want and need.  Secondly, the run around that you guys are getting from the SHBP providers is the main reason why I went to Mexico in January.  I just couldn't take the BS anymore.

Good Luck and Continue the Fight
