UHC(SHBP News)
You KNOW....UHC(Optum Health) really needs to clarify in detail who it is we need to see...
I left message for Kathryn, my bariactric resource nurse tonight asking this very question...I go to see the NUT on March 9th..have completed their very detailed packet and everything. My NUT works out of the Atlanta Weight Loss Surgical Ctr and I've been informed that here I will take part in a pre-surgery diet and exercise consultation...so I figured I could do my 6month supervised weight loss program here...to be on the safe side I do plan to have my PCP make notes of my weight each month since January.....some PCP's actually send you to the NUT for weightloss so see it's all so vague. When my bariatric resourse nurse calls me back this week I'll be sure to post what info she gives me regarding this.
Good question though....I got the feeling THEY love for us to feel confused about what we're doing...but I declare I WON'T give up!

ok I spoke with Kathryn, my OptumHealth's BRS nurse, this morning and she said that under the UHC-SHBP a nutrition assessment is not required of course I'm doing mine for my SURGEON requirements. I asked if a registered dietician(like the nutritionist) would be okay to do the "6month supervised visits" and she said YES...PCP, RD either would be fine. She also said make sure in there monthly visits they are listing your monthly weight and exercise plan. Sounds like a plan...and more clearer.....
So hey I'm gonna use info from the dieticians office and my PCP's office....let it allllll work!
Bye ya'll.....
