Chapstick! and mouth-moisturizing rinse or spray. That first day and a half after surgery when I could have nothing by mouth would have been awful without those. When I felt thirsty, I'd rinse with the m.m. stuff, spit it out, then rinse with water and spit, then slather on the chapstick. Ahhh, relief! --Dorothy

Don't forget a favorite robe or lounger or other comfortable nightgown that you will feel comfortable wearing while pacing the hallways. Walking the halls with your derriere showing while wearing those lovely hospital gowns isn't something you want to be worrying about when you're focusing on walking! I'd also suggest a pillow for the car ride home; not so much for sleeping, but to use to brace your abdomen with when you go from a standing to sitting position and vice versa. Having that little extra support while getting up and down really does help. And I wholeheartedly agree with the chapstick!
Good luck, you're going to do great :) Good meeting you at the support meeting the other night!
