Call to Action: My Results thus far
Well, after sending out my letters to get our legislators working, I've received 2 responses so far. I expect more this week (and I'm just waiting for Sonny Perdue to give me a call!). The first response I got was from my district senator, Chip Rogers. A very nice letter. He indicated that they usually don't dictate to health insurance policies from the legislature level but if this is something that would truly be a money saving feature that they needed to look at it. He said in January when they go back into session, they could discuss it.
The second letter was from the CEO of HR of my school system. He said they have no power as to what is and isn't included in the health insurance (okay, so I beg to differ...they could make suggestions if 200 employees from this county were clammoring for WLS) but that the benefits manager (I sent her a letter too) has been made aware of the situation and will be sending me the info I need to appeal. While his letter wasn't a big help, it did sound hopeful. And again, it was a very nice letter.
The moral of this story...THE SQUEEKY WHEEL GETS THE OIL!!!!! WRITE Govenor Perdue...WRITE your state representatives...WRITE Dr. Rhonda Medows (head of Dept of Comm Health/head of the State Merit Health program)... And if you need addresses, let me know.

No denial yet, but the insurance company has the information. I called Friday and the nice lady said she would make sure it went to the correct department. She also said it could take up to 30 days for a response, but she didn't expect it would take that long. So, I'm waiting.
Writing letters to everyone and their mother about covering WLS? Not busy. My fiasco with Chemistry 2 and changing to Microbiology instead, VERY BUSY. I'm hoping this will be a quiet week with getting responses to the rest of the letters I sent out. Not anticipating hearing from the insurance this week (doesn't mean I don't check their website at all hours of the day!)
How's your recovery going?
