Doctor/surgery Question & PCOS

Hi Julie. I too have PCOS. I was diagnosed in my mid 20's after going to many doctors to see why my cycles were always messed up and why I kept gaining weight and couldn't lose weight no matter how hard I tried. They would just say heres the pill it will fix your cycle and you need to go on a real diet. I was so frustrated. I finally went to an endo and he diagnosed me. He put me on Gluc *** and I took it for 6 months but it made me sick everyday so even though I was losing weight I had to stop taking it so needless to say the weight came back. I talked with my OB and my PCP about having Gastric Bypass and they said it wouldn't cure the PCOS as there isn't a cure but that they thought it would help my symptoms. So I had WLS and lost 120 lbs and my PCOS is in check. No more medicine for me! My surgeon is Dr. Paul Macik and he did a wonderful job. He is very skilled and kind. I can't really help you with Dr. Rashid because I haven't heard of her. I wish you the best of luck. Take care, Bonnie
