So both my husband and I had WLS (lapband) in August and September 06.We have each lost over 100 lbs . You hear the statistics that say divorce is high among WLS patients, and I knew that going in, just thought it wouldn't happen to us. Well, it did.  I have since heard a lot of horror stories about other couples that have had the surgery and also wound up divorced. I am just wondering if anyone knows any other WLS couples that have wound up divorced?? Thanks, Glenda

My husband and I both had weight loss surgery...his was 3/2005 and mine was 8/2005.  We both had lap RNY.  I had lost 165 pounds (I am currently 36 week pregnant and have gained 50 pounds).  My husband had lost around 130 pounds, but he has gained a lot of that back.  We are both very happy with our surgeries and each other.  My husband is and always will be my very best friend.  I don't see divorce in our future (if it does happen...it won't be because of WLS).  I have heard that this can and does happen.  Sometimes it is out of jealously.  Sometimes it is because one person wants more out of life than the other person.  I'm sorry to hear about this regarding your marriage.  :(   take care of yourself!

Congratulations on the weight loss and the baby. You look amazing! Glad to hear the surgery has brought you and your husband closer together. My husband changed quickly, and to hear him tell it I am the devil's daughter. I really think he has a hormone imbalance, but he won't get it checked. We were very close for many years and he was my best friend, but he just stopped loving me almost overnight. It hurt really bad at first, but at least I have lost so much weight that I will find someone else when the time is right. By the time he realizes what he has done, it is too late. I lost the trust I had in him and no longer want to make it work. Thanks. Glenda

Thank you for the compliment, Glenda.  I'm so sorry to hear about your marriage.  Like you said, it will all work out.  And, like a lot of people say, everything happens for a reason.  You will meet your soul mate one day.  I'm just sorry you are having to go through this.  Take care.
