New here...

I am new to this site, was recommended to check this out by my dr, I asked her about the lap-banding and she said this would be a good start. I am almost 27yrs old, and I weigh over 350lbs. I have tried many diets, none work. I am currently seeking some advice and possible seminar to attend. I am in Camden County GA (southeat ga, 6 miles north of the florida line) and I know that I will ahve to travel a little ways to get to one. I hope that someone can help me out in some ways. Jessica

Welcome to the message board. Only seminars I know about is in Atlanta. You can probably find something closer to you--maybe Jacksonville. You might check with big hospitals in the area. Don't know anything about lap-banding, but I know there is a forum for it on this site. Good luck on your search. I had RNY and have been happy with it. I understand some of you younger girls prefer the lap-banding.

Hi Jessica, My niece had the lap band last August, she will be 25 in May. She has lost 120 lbs and is still losing. She was interested in the rny as both myself (12/02/03) and her Mom (06/23/06) had but her dr advised her the lap band was a better choice for her. We all used Dr Hart. He would be quite a drive for you but please remember this is your health you are trying to get back. He and his partner, Dr Johnson have an open seminar/support group the first Wednesday of the month at Emory Johns Creek hospital. Please let me know if you want more information on these drs. You might try Dr Henderson in Brunswick or Dr A (not sure of his last name) but he is in Savannah... Norma

hi jessica, I am in Brunswick and saw Dr Kent this past week for the first time. He is in with Dr. Henderson. They are wonderful. They have seminars before you have to see the doctor.
