Support Group - Rockdale Hospital

Anyone else go to the support group meetings at Rockdale Hospital? There is one tonight and I was just curious if anyone here has attended them before and what they thought about them.

I did not know there was on Thursdays there. I go to one on the first Wednesday. The one on 1st Wed is good-small-but good. Tell me what you know about this one.

It is monthly, and held by my surgeons office....they have guest speakers, like last month it was a dietician. The one you go to on the 1st Wed....where is it at and will there be one the 1st Wed of January....I would love to go.

The Support Group meets on the first Wednesday of each month at Rockdale Hospital in Classroom B in the new wing at 6:00pm. That will be January 3rd. I feel sure we will meet. I will be there. Hope you can come. Who is your surgeon? How far out are you? It has been 21 months for me. I have lost 130 lbs totally (20 pounds before surgery.) I had PS six weeks ago. I have had a pretty hard time with it. WLS was a breeze, but PS was another thing.

I actually haven't had my surgery yet...I'm having a DS done with Dr. Maynard....hopefully it will February or March....but I haven't finished all the steps on my 'checklist' as of yet so not sure. Do you think anyone would mind if I came even though I'm still pre-op? The new wing would be the east entrance right...with the fountain and what not in the lobby?

Sure you are welcome to come. There is at least one other girl that comes regularly that is trying to get approved by insurance. All of us have or having RNY either opened or laproscopic. Mine was done laproscopic by Titus Duncan group. Dr Hobson actually did mine. I don't think any of us know anything about DS. I don't know a thing about it. You are right about the entrance and fountain. Just go down the hall by the gift shop, and it is on the left. Good luck on your surgery. Hope to see you at the meeting 1/3. I will look for you.

Thank you so much....I will definately be there! I figured that y'all were probably RNY, and while the surgeries are different...I have found a lot of the issues, feelings, and so forth are the same...so I am really trying to surround myself with as many people as I can that have or will go through this so when the time comes I have a support group in place.
