CAN CARBS CAUSE UNCONSCIOUSNESS???
Hey Everyone!
I haven't posted in ages - mainly because LIFE HAS BEEN A BIT HARD lately!
Anyway, at almost 2 years out from RNY, I'm having a terrible problem with carbs in almost any form! When I eat them, I often end up asleep for about 30 minutes to an hour! Only, it's more like just going unconscious! Family members who have witnessed these "episodes," tell me that I will sometimes "wake-up" and say stuff! Sometimes what I've said makes sense but most of the time it doesn't!!! When I really do wake up I don't remember a thing! I just realize that - hey, I must have dozed off!!
Has anyone else experienced these types of "episodes?" I just wonder what causes them and will I "grow out of this," or is this a permanent phenomenon?
Thanks for the feedback!
Blessings!

Hi Sherry,
I had diabetes really bad before WLS. I was on three medications plus two types of insulin to "controll" the condition. Now I'm not on any meds for diabetes and my last A1c was 5.5 which is well within the normal limits for 3-month blood sugars. I am simply at a loss to explain why this keeps happening. Sometimes my blood sugar dips into the low 70s - high 60s at which point I have to eat a little bit of carbs such as fruit to bring my numbers up to normal! I usually still end up "knocked out!" Maybe it is a form of dumping. I'm going to do some more research on the Internet to see if I can come up with the answer.
Thanks for your reply, Sherry!
Many Blessings!
Cheryl
