Good luck everyone in Georgia that is on Wellcare. I just found out about 20 mins ago that Wellcare now is requireing a FULL YEAR (yes, 12 full months) of a supervised diet with your physician. Apparently the money they spent on all the expensive clearances that they require, etc isn't enough, they want to waste more money by paying for all the supervised visits etc, oh and who knows what they will want next in that year...they will probably then require that they persoanlly sit there and watch you exercise and eat? Wow..so nice to know that Medicaid doesn't care about their people anymore. Oh wait, maybe it would be better for them if all their customers are deceased from complications of obesity? I have high blood pressure, head to toe edema, and gout (in my knee from the edema medicine I have been on since 1994), and all the other obesity related problems (except for diabetes), all these problems will go away once I get the surgery (per both my PCP and the surgeon), but Wellcare (Medicaid) doesn't care about that. They'd rather keep paying for all my medicines which takes even MORE money away from people that need transplants heart surgeries etc etc...And Wellcare wonders WHY they are in the hole more and more each year money-wise????????? Wow, I'm not a rocket scientist, but I've figured it out!

Sorry to hear. I was approved today by Peachstate. My paperwork went in on Nov 30. Emory in Atlanta was sure to have everything I needed. You can change to Peachstate it may help.

It would still take a long time, as from my understanding, we can't switch plans until our "renewal" date...mine wasn't until June 2005...so either way...I'm screwed...I am trying to go through Peachtree Surgical Bariatrics in Atlanta...
