Just had a question if anyone has used Dr. Duncan for the lapband procedure? Or any other one, and how they liked him? Thanks..Rachel

I used Dr. Duncans practice, Dr. Hobson did my surgery 8/31/05 and I have lost 110 lbs and over 72 inches! I am very happy with my surgery and the results

Since I have several friends who used that office and have been very successful and happy with their results, I only considered that practice. Also, since I was self pay I was able to have Dr. Duncan as my surgeon. I have lost 100 pounds as of this week and have been complication free, so far. I have read some posts in the past from patients of that practice stating their dissatisfaction. It is mostly because they have felt like a number rather than an individual patient....it IS a very busy practice. I don't really need to be cozy with the surgeon...I want him or her to be GOOD at surgery. I'll get my warm and fuzzies from their support group. In fact, the meetings I have attended at the hospital....before and after surgery...have been great. I haven't even attended any closer at home. -karen-

Hey Rachel, I had the team of drs there and they are the best I tell ya. I have seen both. But dr hobson done my surgery. As to date I have lost 182lbs and have went from a 67 BMI to a 37 BMI. They are major busy and have to stay on them about your paperwork and all because of that and are shuffling things around sometimes but I went for the experience not the neatness lol... Hope this helps... Hugs Marge

My experience is pretty much like Marge and Legally Blonde. Hobson did my surgery. I have lost 110 lbs, my MBI is 24. I had no complications. I was a little slow to lose--I started at 242 and am 61 years old. They say that is why I lost slower than some of the bigger and younger people. It has been 21 months and I still lose if I try. I am pretty much at my goal weight. The practice is a little hard to deal with, but my PCP told me they were the best in Atlanta. I went with them and am glad I did. They have good support groups. Also, the dietation information before surgery is good. I did not use them, but I wish I had. There is a gym at the hospital that a lot of people use.

Hi Rachel, Although, I wish that I could share the same opinion as the others, but, I can not. I used Dr. Duncan and would not recommend him at all. I nearly died due to post op complications and he did not come and see me for quite some time to resolve my issues and because of it I went into a coma and was on full life support for seven and a half weeks and in the hospital for five months just due to what he wouldn't do for me. So, if you think thats whom you should use, then I suggest you give it some serious thought. I realize that I have not spoken very favorably of him, just remember this is "my story" and what happened to me. I am in NO way saying that this would happen to you, but rather, I am answering your question so that you can be informed because knowledge IS power. I wish you ALL the best with your journey. Thanks so much for the response, and I understand your experience and glad you gave another side to it...I also know that not everyone has the same experience and that we all differ...but thank you very much for that....Rachel

He might be a good doctor but getting thru to his staff is another story...they put me off for 8 months....the whole ordeal with them was nothing but a night mare and a waste of time & money...I got smart and found another doctor and had surgery 3 weeks later! Good luck! AC

Hi there, I used Duncans office for my gastric. I did run into some mild problems (my vitamins made me sick, but didn't know that was it for 8 months) I felt at times as if I was not getting anywhere with them, but I had my 1 year post op visit with them in Oct. and was very pleased (they have changed some office staff), and I personally have other friends that have used them and are very pleased as well. Just go with your heart and if you feel he is the one for you then go for it, if not then try someone else. Best of luck, Melissa
