Hello everyone, I had surgery on 11/06/06 I have had no complications. But I am worried that I am not having any problems with drinking or eating. I have not lost any weight...Is this normal? I had clear liquids the 1st week, I am on full liquids this week. Did anyone not loose any weight the first couple of week? This has caused a lot of concern to me. I can eat an entire can of soup without any problems. HELP!

Remember that soup will pass though your new pouch quicker than say something more solid. You'll likely be able to eat more of soup than other foods. Once you get to the next stage the food will sit in your stomach more and you'll get the full feeling. I didn't get a full feeling until I started more solid foods. This is all very normal. Also it's been 9 days since surgery, don't expect it all to come off quickly. A lot of times in the hospital you'll gain some from the fluids they give. You'll start to see a difference, just don't weight often in the beginning, that really can drive you crazy. You'll be fine. Amy

Thanks for asking this, my surgery was on the 8th and I'm going through the same thing. I can eat cottage cheese, mashed potatoes, soup, broth, along with the other usual suspects. I figured it was because it was all soft, the downside is that I'm starting to actually feel hungry, but next week I can add seafood to the diet, so I figure that might help with eating less and feeling full. (and no, I havent made a joke about my first "firmer" firmer meal being fried shrimp.. I have no desire to be thwacked) That said, at least I can have a few shrimp on Thanksgiving! Continued good luck!
