Hi - I dont' know what anyone else would say, but I'm going to have my Lap DS by Dr. Dennis Smith in Marietta. I haven't met with him yet because he doesn't meet with you until close to the end, but he has an Excellent reputation and I have received my insurance approval and am simplyy waiting to recieve my final package for the final countdown.

I used Obesity Solutions here in Gainesville, Dr. Robert Richard. He is so wonderful. Very polite and quite. The hospital here also received an Excellence award for their bariatric surgery and for the unit. Just an opinion. We had a person as far away as Columbus, GA at our support meeting last week.

It's a pretty tough choice, there are so many really good ones there. It depends on the type of program you are looking for. I'd recommend seeing a few if you have that option. I went to 4 surgeons before I made my choice. Amy

My doctor doesn't do Lap surgeries - but for me he was the right person. You have to make that decision YOUR PERSONAL decision. If you're looking for a great gym in the McDonough area - I recommend Gold's - I teach there.....I'd love to see ya there! We're actually working on a new program for "beginner" (or those that have special needs) to entice them to come into the gym. It's got a pool, and upstairs track, and the BEST Group Fitness classes ever!!! Good luck to ya! Dee Dee

I have had friends say that Dr titus duncan and Dr. Hobson at Atlanta Medical center is good, I used Dr Freeman in Alabama because I paid cash, My doctor had the surgery himself, so he knows what it is really like.

I chose Dr. Titus Duncan because a good friend of mine used him three years ago and she has been very successful. I have heard that many who have used him or his partner, Dr. Hobson, feel as if they are only a number....they do not get the warm and fuzzies.....I could give two hoots about that...I wanted skill and low incidence of complications. I have no plans to ask my surgeon and his staff over for Thankgiving Dinner...I just want to be around for my friends and family for those big events....I suggest you check the stats of any surgeon you choose. Looking at the short and long term. By the way, I have-so far-had no complications since my surgery almost six months ago....I have followed doctor's orders and have been very conservative in my food choices. I feel fairly confident I chose the right surgeon...for me. Good luck on your journey. -karen-

I just had my surgery done by Dr. Champion. I was originally going with Emory, but they are just to big, and I got lost in the cogs of their machine one to many times. I went to a number of seminars in the Atlanta area, and was more impressed with Dr. Champions approach than anyone elses. There is no seminar, you go to his office, meet his staff (wonderful and kind) watch an instructive video, and then meet with his nurse as well as the Dr. Himself. Dr. Champion is a kind man, but he's direct and to the point. He's done well over 2000 operations. When he took one look at me, he asked about my leg, I have lyphodema, and said that he has had 5 fatalities, and 3 fit my description, so he wanted me to undergo an additional procedure to help with blood clots. No other surgeon I had met, had mentioned this as a protection from blood clots, so he had me right there. I could go on and on, but the shorthand of it is, the nurses on the floor of the hospital all said that he had the lowest complication rate of any other doctor they worked with. And if being married to a nurse has taught me anything, it's that nobody knows a Dr. Like the nurses. Also, My brother had someone else in Alabama do the surgery (forget the name) and he was on the table for four hours, I was on the table for 1.5 hours. I highly recommend at least checking him out. But the most important thing is. Congrates on starting!

I have to vote for my doctor, Dr. Steinberg who works with Surgical Associates in Decatur (next to Atlanta). 404-501-7081 Kia

Sherry, At the time that each one of us had our surgery, we all thought that the Dr that we chose was the best Dr in the world to do our surgery, and that is why you are getting lots of positive responses. I was referred to my Dr (Dr Michael Williams) by a fellow patient of his. And, he is still the best Dr in the world to me. I did have one complication....approx 10 months out from my surgery, I developed a partially blocked bowel obstruction, which turned out to be scar tissue...and that can happen to anyone at anytime. Once you are a patient of his and he does your surgery, you never have to pay another dime to him. His office accepted what the insurance paid on this second surgery, and never billed me the difference. He is Chief of Surgery at Emory Dunwoody Medical and I am so glad that I had both surgeries there....they are totally awesome. If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely choose Dr Williams.
