Moving to Columbus in October. Looking for a good support group that meets weekly (preferably) if not monthly for post-ops

I believe there is one Cindy... Forgot who leads it, but I know i've seen post about it several times. I can tell you though, there is absolutely not one bariatric surgeon in Columbus. Go figure huh? 2nd largest city in Georgia and not one Bariatric surgeon.

Dirk, Actually there is a dr. now that is it doing them here. My friend is going through the process with him right now. But for some reason his name has slipped my mind. He is an surgeon that has been around for awhile. I will ask her tomorrow what his name is. Lea Lewis.,

Dirk, Actually, there is a bariatric surgeon in Columbus...Dr Richard Bloom He has a small, "blooming" bariatric service but it is building. He did my surgery on 12/8/04 at Doctors Hospital. They also have a small, bariatric unit with personel specially trained to handle the special needs of our population. His nurse practitioner, Karen McDade, actually works more closely with the patients for pre/post-ops. They have monthly support groups but because his bariatric business is still growing, he doesn't have many long-term post-ops. I believe this city's delay in developing this service is that the area hospitals were unwilling to dedicate a unit to support our special needs. Cindy
